LIMOUSINE liberals, move over. You've been out-glammed by Lear Jet liberals who burn beaucoup fossil fuels in the sky as they soar around the planet fighting global warming.
Last week, they flew to their Mecca, the Clinton Global Initiative conference in New York City. For the left-leaning and loaded, this is the meeting that has it all -- the mega-rich paying to be seen caring about poor people and the environment, while posing for photos with former President Bill Clinton.
The big news of the CGI was an announcement by Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Atlantic Airways, that he would donate $3 billion over 10 years -- his personal profits from his airline and train businesses -- to global-warming research. That's more money than I'll ever see, or spend on R&D, so bully for Branson. Still, it should be noted that Branson said some of the money will go back to his own corporations' research. That's not quite charity.
In California, Branson has a soul mate in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Critics hit the governator for signing global-warming bills while owning four Hummers, but his biggest green sin is dibs on a private plane.
Flying is probably the biggest personal polluter for people who fly roundtrip more than 10 times a year. So, all those Hollywood stars who preen about their Priuses can see themselves as eco-virtuous only by ignoring their plane travel.
They are in a pickle. How can they be beautiful people if they don't jet to an island for a week or two of eco-tourism?

I don't hate them for their wealth but for their hypocrisy. They probably have hybrid cars meet them plane side and then congratulate themselves on their contributions to the environment.
They must be special, why else would the little people give them so much money?

HA HA HA HA. You would think these people would atleast be honest. They don't want to give up anything; they just want everyone else to.
Ah, and these are the first to criticize evangelicals' extravaganzas...
I think their attraction to environmental extremism is because they want to lower the standard of living for 95% of the people. They want to widen the gap between themselves and the commoners. If you are a super-rich progressive, going on vacation to Hawaii in one's private Lear Jet, it kind of spoils it if a mere peasant can buy a seat on an airliner and also go to Hawaii. It doesn't really help that the peasant saved for years for his vacation. In principle, it is offensive to the progressives that a peasant is able to go anywhere he wants. Only the ruling class should enjoy freedom of movement and any luxuries. So the progressives hit upon the idea of convincing people that if they live in poverty it will "save the earth."
Remember when Barbra Streisand wanted people to hang laundry outside to save energy?
Babs recently hung her bra outside and somebody must've stolen it. There's pictures everywhere. Time and gravity are so relentless. I had to cover my eyes. But I hear someone is using that bra as a thrust reverser for their Learjet.
Im sure the average Hollywood star uses 10,000 times the fuel the average person does .Frauds the lot of them.
John Kerry's Gulfstream 5 burns 391 Gallons Per Hour. That figures to be 4600 gallons to Hawaii and back. 16 Tons. During the first two hours of flight 25% of the fuel burn is used to carry the fuel it will burn getting there.

Your post is outstanding and sums up perfectly the core 'value' of the Liberals! It is highly offensive to them, at a deep personal level, that SO MANY 'people' (that means 'scum' in their language) HAVE so much. It is unseemly for the peasants to own homes, travel, have savings in the bank, etc. because it is evidence that the peasants don't 'know their place' vis a vis the 'chosen elite'.
