Swastikas daubed on french mosques

PARIS, Sept 24, 2006 (AFP) - Swastikas were painted on the walls of two mosques in France on the weekend, and one was set alight in disturbing instances of racist vandalism, police said Sunday.

The mosque which was torched, in the northwest town of Quimper, suffered damage from the flames. Six swastikas were painted on the outside of its walls.

The head of the local Muslim association said it was the fourth time the mosque had been targeted.

In the southwestern town of Carcassonne, the other mosque was daubed with swastikas and slogans reading "France for the French", "Arabs get out" and "Death to Islam", officials said.

No-one has claimed responsibility for the vandalism and investigations have been launched to find the perpetrators.

Religious and anti-racism groups condemned the attacks, which came as Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, got underway.

"This is odious because it is stupid and nasty and because it shows a radical ignorace of Islam," Dalil Boubakeur, president of the French Council for the Muslim Faith, said.

"The criminal intention doubles up with a desire to disturb, in a particularly vile way, the peaceful course of ceremonies that accompany this month of fasting and penintence," Boubakeur said.

The Movement Against Racism and for Frienship between People (MRAP) expressed its solidarity with Muslims and blamed an environment in which Islam was increasingly being associated with terrorism.

This is "part of the Islam equals terrorism equation," MRAP said in a statement.

"The far right's political manoeuvring on the theme that France is becoming islamised contributes to an obnoxious climate that fosters these kind of acts," the rights group said.

Considering the French propensity for Jewish hatred, I have a little bit of trouble believing this isn't an inside job by the mohammedans. A swastika on a Jewish temple I would expect from them, but a mohammedan charnel house?

I would have figured swastiskas on the mosques was done by the Muslims themselves, who had just re-discovered a powerful new iconic symbol with some historical resonance, since Muslims went along willingly with Hitler's plan. Politically it makes NO sense to assume that whatever French fringe group still exists there who thinks it appropriate to use a swastika to communicate something serious, would also say
"France for the French". I mean, the French are more than a touch anti-semitic, but they don't have to resort to Nazi symbology to express it.

These days mosques and Swastikas go together like milk and cookies. Why are they "outraged" that they were painted on their buildings?

All mosques should have them painted above their doorways. A mosque without Swastikas is like a McDonalds without the golden arches.

Swastikas are completely appropriate for Islamofascist ammo dumps mosques as the Islamofascists admire the Nazis and think Hitler was a great guy for killing Jews. There's an Islamo over in the Palestinian territories that goes by the name Hitler because he's such a great admirer of the Nazis.

While I don't necessarily approve of the use of the swastika to deface these mosques, it appears that some, in Europe (FRANCE of all places!) "get it"! They see their country being dragged down the tubes and overrun by the Muslim vermin. As long as we play the PC games, Islam will take us all over without firing a shot.

It is a serious topic - but you have to laugh at the phrasing. In America, it would be "vandals defaced". In France, vandals apparently "daube".

You can't help but think that the "daubers" are sitting in a cafe on the Left Bank, drinking absinthe, and debating whether swastikas should be daubed impressionistically, or in a post-modern style.
