I never thought of it that exact way. If the question is posed and she says, "Bill will not be Secr. of State." she loses votes of those that WANT him back in office in an official capacity.

If the Dems do win the Senate, he'd be confirmed as Secr. of State in a minute. Or to the Supreme Court.

The problem with a Clinton pledge is that it is completely meaningless. She can always say, "Things changed."

Oh, I agree that any pledge by MRS BILL CLINTON would be completely meaningless, in terms of being viewed as a binding agreement by her.

But it's value lies in asking the question in the first place and putting her on the hot seat or watching her twist in the wind.

It also, without saying so, brings up all kinds of icky things about the Klintoons and what it would be like to have their "marriage" back in the WH.

I really think this would be a big deal! I hope someone finds a way to put her on the spot to make a pledge like this.

Maybe we could just start an internet petition and have it sent to her office. It would probably pick up a lot of press if it got big enough. And maybe the moonbats would start militating for it as well, b/c they WANT the Sinkmeister back in the mix.

If the above-named Rats did come out and cheer for Klintoon this a.m., then they would have to answer for why they are undermining everything W is trying to do to get bin Laden, including the interrogation of thugs, targeting al-Q leaders in SUVs, etc.

Also, even if this was an elaborate Rat scheme to fire up their base, SO WHAT?

The fact is Klintoon just did 1000 times more to fire up the conservative base!

And we all know Rovian Rules 101 is: if you want to win elections, make sure your base is fired up and don't worry about the other guy's base. So the Toon just played into Rove's brilliant trap here, imo.

So if Kristol is right and this was an elaborate Dim scheme...

I'm not sure Kristol said that is was a dumbocrat scheme..
I believe he attributes this even to BJ. The dumbos have many factions and like Al Qaeda, it no longer has centralized control. Forget about Kurtz and Huffington - only polito heads pay anything they say, same goes for Dean, et al.
Bill is the Osama of this organization and his performance was a "comer to Jesus" call for the Demos.
We'll see if it was effective (for his constituency) - I'm betting it will.

I do not think in any reasonable person's mind that his total flame out with Chris Wallace could be construed as an act to win Rat support. Then we are talking about Kristol, and he stopped being reasonable a long time ago for the most part. The man is certifiably nuts,if not from all the drug abuse, and alcoholism,he is probably brain damaged from Hillary's dead aim with heavy ashtrays.

The fact is Klintoon just did 1000 times more to fire up the conservative base!

There have been discussions by both parties that it could be in their respective best interests to "lose" the midterms this year in order to have a better shot at both houses and the executive in 2008.
The thinking is along the line of Iraq is what it is and unlikely to see much uptick in the next 2 years, the housing market is softening, the economy may soften a tad, the southern border issue is apt to be a bit sticky, etc, etc, so whoever is in charge may not come through smelling like a rose. If the Dems were to win both houses this fall, it's a safe bet that they would do little (best case scenario) and probably make things a whole lot worse. Their ineffectiveness would hurt them in 2008 (a Hillary's chances)..
Soooooo, do the math....

I just think this meltdown reminds us that---wow, frightening---character matters.

It reminds us that if MRS BILL CLINTON were elected to the WH, the whole country would have to put up with the Sinkmeister again.

It reminds us that the Klintoons are still supremely icky.

That fires up his political opponents and strengthens their resolve to ensure he and his are defeated.

Bill Clinton is a sociopath. People like that are dangerous. They don't empathize with others, they don't have feelings other than pure self interest. It's all calculated. They're the sun, the rest of the world revolves around them. Narcissism thy name is Clinton. We're lucky we survived 8 years of this nutjob.

I'd have snapped his finger backwards if he poked me like that.

ROFL! Yeah, it would have felt good for a couple seconds, then the Secret Service would've been on you like white on rice.

Isn't it sad that a man less than 6 years removed from being the acknowledged leader of the free world has sunk so low that he has become nothing more than a finger-pointing, whining political hack?

During his eight years in office he was nothing more than a a finger-pointing, whining political hack. The only thing that's changed is that he is no longer in power and can no longer get official action with his finger-pointing, whining political hack ways.

Let's not give Clinton too much credit. It's kind of like the Democrats who think everything that happens was somehow a plot devised by the master of the universe, Karl Rove.

Good analogy. Clinton has been way overrated as a politician anyway, having cannibalized his DLC backing and the 'rat party as a whole to get elected by a plurality of the vote, while losing his party's control of Congress and achieving nothing worthwhile in eight years.

The man is extremely defensive all the time, and after being provoked and agitated by the "Path to 911" embarrassment, he just flew into an infantile narcissistic rage. It hasn't been the first, or even the second time. The man is a sickie, and barely in control without his handlers running interference. Live interviews have always backfired on him but he just can't resist the chance to try to aggrandize himself. Like most personality disorders, he doesn't learn from experience. Even Nixon saw this, and commented on it before his death.

WRONG. And as far as his aides getting it out first, that is the Clinton MO. They always want to get out front with bad news so they can control the spin. Where has Kristol been all these years? The man is a psycho and he proves it over and over again Kristol. Figure it out finally would ya?

He clearly was well-prepared for that subject to come up,

Of course. He's been rehearsing his defense against all those "right wing enemies" every night as he tries to fall asleep. It should be well rehearsed by now.

This was red meat to try and fire up his base...

Clinton has never given a sh*t about his "base" unless he himself was running for something, and he isn't running for anything this Fall. I suspect he was most concerned about shoring up his crumbling legacy however, which has begun to resemble a New Orleans levee at flood tide. I'll give him that.

He sought greatness so desperately.

This is the pathetic side of BillyBoy. He sought an external opportunity to achieve greatness-- and didn't recognize that history had handed him the greatest power the world had ever seen and the office from which to wield it, and a dozen such opportunities. He failed to recognize them because greatness is an internal virtue, and there is no greatness in him. He is a small, venal, squalid excuse for a man, a moral and physical coward, and he will be a failure to the day he dies. Bill Clinton failed to achieve greatness for the simple reason that he is not good enough of a human being.

I once had a boss that told me there is no such thing as luck in life. Luck is actually what happens when preparation meets opportunity. I would go one step further and say that legacy is what happens when character meets opportunity. Bill did not, and does not understand that. You put it beautifully.

I've always thought he'd love to be Secr. of State; jetting around the world to be loved by the adoring masses.

I think he would insist on becoming attorney general, so he could use the full power and menace of the Justice Department to wreak vengeance, personal destruction, and ruin on his political enemies. Who would number in the tens of thousands including many on this board. A Hillary presidency would be a constitutional crisis of the second amendment kind.
