Is Iran about to launch a war in northern Iraq?
The short answer is "no". We're working with the Turks and the Iraqi Kurds to try to reign in the PKK. For Iran to "launch a war" (as opposed to possible punitive raids against the Kurds) would bring them into direct confrontation with us. The Iranians don't want that, at this time (even though they already have agents inside Iraq). DEBKA's full of it, per SOP.

If Iran was to attack Iraq. It would be suicidal on their part. I don't believe Turkey would have any part in an invasion.
But an invasion by Iran would right up our alley. Iran WOULD be blasted into the stone age.
