Moonbats are alive and well in Kenmore Square By Howie Carr Boston Herald Columnist

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Boston City Councilor Jerry McDermott, meet Moonbat Nation.

All it takes is a press release saying that maybe the huge flashing sign in Kenmore Square advertising the Hugo Chavez-controlled CITGO oil company should be replaced by a giant American flag.

Just send out that one little press release, and all of a sudden, you’re a tool of Halliburton, a capitalist-roader, a veritable . . . Chris Wallace.

One night, you’re sipping a cold one at The Stockyard. The next, hundreds - thousands - of deranged e-mailers are demanding that you be tried as a war criminal.

“What’s the phrase?” McDermott was asking as he sorted through the e-mails. “Bush Derangement Syndrome?”

That’s it, BDS. He said this on a segment on my radio show, during which he was identified as a Democrat a dozen times. Then we opened the phone lines and the first guy out of the box comes out ranting, calling McDermott a Republican tool.

What about Nancy Pelosi and John Conyers, I asked.

“They’re Republicans, too!” shrieked the caller. He was from Vermont.

Okay, let’s go straight to the e-mails that McDermott has received:

From ”Brian”: “I guess you’ve been living under a rock but . . . Bush’s actions are evil. Bush belongs to Skull & Bones, a satanic organization, that performs satanic rituals.”

That explains Chavez’s sulfur reference, I suppose. Of course, John Kerry is also a member of Skull & Bones, but one of the symptoms of BDS is the inability to hear any inconvenient facts.

From “Whatever” (that’s the name): “Bush IS the antichrist and the devil and the worst president in the history of the US BAR NONE. The writing is on the wall this monkey is a fool and a murderer and that has nothing to do with hating the US - that has to do with loving the American people and not wanting them to be raped by a punk like W bush.”

Raped? Ever hear of Juannita Broaddrick, pal?

This is not to say that McDermott didn’t get a lot of support as well, much of it from Red State cities like Fort Lauderdale and Charlotte. A captain at Gitmo who is also a Red Sox fan wrote him:

“It might be a symbolic gesture, but then again so was General George S. Patton urinating in the Rhine as he crossed the river in 1945.”

But even more e-mails were from the moonbats.

It’s amazing, that in 2006 calling the president of the United States the devil may now increase sales of your product.

Here’s one from a moonbat, who first establishes his bona fides by saying that “as a personal contribution against war and global warming my wife and I sold our car 10 years ago.”

But, he adds, “(when) we do find the unavoidable need to rent a car 2 or 3 times a year, and when we do I always buy my gas from a CITGO station to lend my support to the long victimized people of Venezuela.”

Ironic, isn’t it? These are the same people who hate “Big Oil” because of capitalism, global warming, etc. But now, if anyone ever tried to take down the sign - which is not going to happen, needless to say - these moonbats would now chain themselves to Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore in a human chain around the building

From “Meredith”: “As a Massachusetts citizen, I side with the (Citgo) sign, not Bush or anything that defends his idiocy.”

From “Todd”: “I am a 42-year-old American medical doctor who refuses to live in America to raise my children.”

The City Council meets today, and the CITGO sign will surely come up again. Stand by for another barrage of moonbat e-mails, Jerry McDermott. As Jerry Williams used to say, “They’re out there.”

Well I'm sure that a rat's nest was uneathered when the area was demolished for reconstruction a few years back.

“as a personal contribution against war and global warming my wife and I sold our car 10 years ago.”

WHY DIDN'T I HEAR THE LEFT PROTESTING???

What I have noticed is the LW moonbats have an equal passion for hating George Bush and American nationalism, while loving Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's bolivar National Socialism (anyone remember National Socialism from the the 30's?) and anything he does.

If they had to choose between Exxon or CITGO going bankrupt and thousands of jobs evaporating, they would support CITGO in a heartbeat, just because of Chavez.

Their loyalties are not with the United States.

And Kinky Friedman isn't supporting the Castro regime by smoking Cuban cigars...he's burning their crops.

44% of the eligible population of Venezuela was disenfranchised in Hugo's big win over his hand picked opponent who is now in his government.
