Quotes from Vernon Robinson's newest Campaign ad:
"Brad Miller even spent your tax dollars to pay teenage girls to watch pornographic movies with probes connected to their genitalia."
"Brad Miller spent your money to study the masturbation habits of old men."
"Brad Miller spent your tax dollars to study the sex habits of Vietnamese prostitutes in San Francisco"
"Brad Miller spent your tax dollars to study something called the bisexual, trangendered and two spirited Aluetian Eskimos"
NC ping.
Ouch!
This is the kind of "mud slinging" I love. Truth hurts.
haha Going Negative??
Democrats will soon call on the RNC to denounce these ads because they go "too far..." no doubt.
Correct me if I'm wrong but is he black? Because the moonbats posting at YouTube are saying Vernon is a racist who hates people with brown skin.
Yep, Vernon calls himself the black Jesse Helms.
Those racist comments stem from his "Marachi" commercial, it's on the website.
"Democrats will soon call on the RNC to denounce these ads because they go "too far..." no doubt."
Thats how the game goes. Throw mean ads and cry like a little girl the second the other side shoots one back. It really is a tired and predicatble ritual.
OMG. Is that all true?
It just makes you want to kick Brad Miller's ass, from here to way the hell over there.
God bless him!
I hear these on the radio around here frequently. It's got all the local liberals in an uproar.
These ads will do him more harm than good. He should fire his campaign manager for stupidity.
Face it. The only conservatives who can get away with those sort of things are black. What are they going to do? Claim he once called somebody the "n word" in college? Claim he once stiffed a deer's head in a black person's mailbox? That stiff doesn't stick.
stiff = stuff. Twice.
That's what the local liberal bloggers are saying.
He's running almost exclusively on social issues.
When you vote for NIH appropriations, you aren't voting for specific R01 research studies. It is a total package. Think of all the Republicans who voted for NIH appropriations that this ad is also smearing.
Miller won't refute anything Robinson's said thus far. In fact Miller is dodging him.
Sadly, he seems to be nearly the ONLY Republican with the stones to take on the Dems for what they REALLY are...
The entire anti-war gig is a smoke-screen to hide thier social issue failures...
"That's what the local liberal bloggers are saying."
And for once they are right. He looks like a complete fool to anyone with an understanding about how the government funds research. I sure wouldn't want him representing me in congress and spending my tax money if he doesn't have a clue about how money is actually budgeted and spent.
I don't know what chance this guy has but his commercials are BAAAAAAD (in a good way).
Illegal immigration and body armor both are national security related.
"Miller won't refute anything Robinson's said thus far. In fact Miller is dodging him."
Why refute something that is so totally asinine? He could just put up a list of every republican who also approved the last budget.
I love this guy
Only the leftys that post over here fail to see how sick and offensive this research is to "normal" folk. Lefty's actually think it's useful.
You can't make that up.
Kirkwood -- 130 other Democrats voted for the same things that Miller did. My question is -- why aren't those other Republicans running against those Democrats not running a similar ad?
And yes, I most certainly have worked in both the Senate AND the House and I know darned well how the budget works.
And I took that into consideration when my firm produced the ad for Vernon Robinson.
Politics is a dirty game and Miller is getting tarred. The game is the vote. Robinson is getting exposure he'd never get by traditional methods.
I fully doubt 5% of all Americans know how the Goverment works. The vast majority just see the ads and make their decisions based on that.
Is this the same guy who ran the Twilight Zone ad?
Robinson used the same argument two years ago when he ran for Richard Burr's seat, against a Republican. No one is safe from his brush o' smears.
Yep. The very same.
"Robinson used the same argument two years ago when he ran for Richard Burr's seat, against a Republican. No one is safe from his brush o' smears."
That very candiate endroses Vernon Robinson in this race.
That's ok.
....As long as he never used the "N" word.
Who is she going to endorse, lib Miller?
And did Robinson actually hint that Miller was gay, just because he and his wife didn't have any children? Tell me that was just a rumor.
He's also in an interesting situation because the district was a 59/41 win for Miller last time and a 53/47 win for Kerry. He's certainly campaigning like he has a very long shot but really has little to lose.
Reading here, it sounds like he lost. I appreciate the ad, but the voters may not.
He never said Miller was gay, that was the spin the leftist gay friendly contingent spewed.
I should clarify the vote in question in this ad, Kirkwood. Normally, you would be absolutely correct. But this was a specific amendment that Pat Toomey introduced in the House that packaged five specific grant/line items.
You assume that Miller is being criticized for the appropriations bill. Miller voted SPECIFICALLY for the amendment(along with 130 other Dems) to approve of those specific grants.
A little different situation in this case. Vote number is in the ad as a reference.
This is a gerrymandered district that was specifically drawn to get Miller re-elected.
Tangentially. I'm not really making a criticism, but national security is a slam dunk for anybody in the GOP. It's a huge winner.
Are you kidding? No one knows or understands how the money is budgeted. I bet most people cannot even name a single leader in congress.
I think the ads are great. I would vote for him.
I figured something like that. My guess is that Robinson is just raising his profile nationally, because if he wins, he'll be a 1-termer.
Unless he wants to springboard to the Senate.
Interestingly enough, "Twilight Zone" did not go national and get lots and lots of attention until it went national.
The last race is actually a case study for many communications professionals now. It was an eight way primary, five of his seven opponents were multi-millionairs. When we started to run the ad the polls completely up ended and Vernon became the front-runner.
He won the primary, but there is a little post Civil War oddity in the South called the run-off. The press brutalized Vernon in the run-off and he lost.
But the victor, Virginia Foxx is now a donor to Vernon, is campaigning for him and has publicly expressed her support for him. The NRCC supported him on Foxx's request.
But then again, you could believe the press. Lots of folks seem to.
Perhaps. I don't think it matters though. If Tom Reynolds thought we would have a shot in this district he would have cut Vernon off at the knees.
Brad Miller is no saint when it comes to campaigning but I would respect the black Jesse Helms if he focused on shrinking the size of government and staying the course in Iraq instead of focusing on gay mexicans.
If there is a CLEO for political ads, your firm should get one!!!
Talk about truth in advertising!
LOL!
"...."
"...."
"...."
"...."
"And Brad Miller even spent $3.7M of your hard-earned tax dollars to study left-handed screwdrivers."

Had to borrow one of your classics! :O)
Amish -- Vernon is an Air Force Academy graduate who served 13 years in uniform. Natl Security is always one of his top speaking topics wherever he goes.
But this district is very, very, very gerrymandered and a difficult one. There are particular considerations in this district that just simply do not always tie into the national message.
