Transgendered New Yorkers would be able to get new birth certificates under a proposal being reviewed by the city's Board of Health. The board, which meets tomorrow, is poised to change the city's Health Code so that new birth certificates can be issued to match a person's current gender identity.
"This is really good news," said Joe Tarver a spokesman for the Empire State Pride Agenda. "It's important particularly in a post-9/11 world. Anytime you board an Amtrak train or enter a building, you have to provide identification. "And if your ID doesn't match the gender [by which] you identify yourself, you can't get on the train and you can't get in the building."
Around the country, some transgender people have said their original birth certificates make it tough to vote and obtain passports. Most states have laws allowing people to obtain new birth certificates if they have undergone a sex-change operation or live as a member of the opposite sex.
New York State has no specific law that authorizes a change in birth certificates but it does issue amended birth certificates through an administrative process, according to Lambda Legal, a national civil rights group. "This is really a good-government issue," said Tarver. "It's about making government work better for a group of people who encounter serious obstacles to doing things that are fairly ordinary for everyone else."
The new birth certificate will have a third box next to the traditional male or female sex to select "it".

Reality can be a bitch; but let me give these perverts a hint - it isn't the accurate birth certificates which are causing the problem. It's their false "gender-identity" (and mutilation) which is causing the problem.

The whole point of a birth certificate is to CERTIFY that you were BORN. If you're born a male, and you "change your gender" to female, and now you have a certificate stating that you were "born" female, that is document fraud.
