Governor Schwarzenegger calls foe's troop plan (to withdraw NG from Iraq) 'irresponsible'

During a signing ceremony in Pasadena for an education bill, Schwarzenegger said it is unconstitutional for a governor to keep National Guard troops home, in his first public response to Angelides' anti-war proposal.

"As soon as they're activated, the National Guard, the commander in chief is the president," Schwarzenegger said, according to a transcript. "It's that simple. And so it is irresponsible for anyone to promise the people of California anything else, and to say that, 'I will get the troops back, and I will be fighting,' and all of those things. That is absolutely irresponsible."

Asked about the war itself, Schwarzenegger said, "I support fighting the war on terror, and I support our soldiers, our men and women, to come back as quickly as possible as soon as we find an exit strategy."

Angelides is the new McGovern. After a generation, the Democrats still haven't grasped that talk of defeat and surrender to the enemy is NOT a winning message with the voters.

Not to mention the American patriots vs, traitors who put their political agenda above the safety of the American people, giving aid and comfort to the enemies.

Angelides called the war in Iraq a "shameful and phony war."

"The guard was never intended to be used to prop up George Bush's war policy." -- said Angelides.

Yet people on here still insist there is no difference between Arnold and Angelides.

Sigh.

But given the facts, it's becoming a hard sell to people.

There is lots to contrast and compare between Arnold and Angelides:

Arnold actually did a lot, for which he doesn't seem to get any credit around here: he kept vetoing the drivers licenses for illegals, he was steadfast and did NOT raise taxes, despite the Dem pressure, he reformed workers comp, he kep CA from going bankrupts, by clever refinancing, he vetoed the homosexual marriage bill and several homosexual agenda bills, he vetoed the min wage several times and even now, when he signed it, he forced the Dem Legislature to take out the automatic inflation adjusted increases, which would have been a real killer for businesses, he also vetoed the healthcare bills requiring businesses to pay for health insurance of their workers, he vetoed the universal healthcare, aka CA government run socialized medicine -- this is just to name a few. A Dem governor would have done the opposite of all this, and we would have had a runaway socialist government in CA.

I think these are MAJOR accomplishments, given the circumstances.

He's worse then McGovern. McGovern was a Senator, he wasn't running for Governor.

McGovern, for all his horrible positions, was a man of character. He wouldn't have promised to do something he didn't have the power to do. He wouldn't have run for Governor of South Dakota and pretended he could have done anything to affect our Foreign Policy. At least McGovern was running for an office that he actually had some say in foreign affairs, Senator, and he ran for President, the leader in foreign affairs.

Angelides doesn't seem to have that much character. He's running for an office that he cannot affect any of these things in, and pretends that he can just to try to get votes.
