WASHINGTON - The House approved a bill Thursday that would grant legal status to President Bush's warrantless wiretapping program with new restrictions. Republicans called it a test before the election of whether Democrats want to fight or coddle terrorists.

"The Democrats' irrational opposition to strong national security policies that help keep our nation secure should be of great concern to the American people," Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said in a statement after the bill passed 232-191.

The Democrats seem to have a problem with defending our country from its enemies. They don't realize they sound shrill and defeatist to the voters. I haven't heard them name ONE reason why its improper for our intelligence agencies to intercept Al Qaeda communications to and from this country.

"Republicans called it a test before the election of whether Democrats want to fight or coddle terrorists."

This is one of those rare occasions when a political talking point is based upon logic.

Because they intend to continue the lie that this is "domestic wiretapping"

The other day I was speaking with an editor of a local paper and she essentailly stated she did not "beleive" the phone taps were used to spy on AQ. IOW she did not beleive Bush. I asked her if she thought he was getting some good recipies out of listening in on America grandmothers phone calls?

The DBM/dems are the sorriest bunch of LOSERS I have ever seen.Their HATE BUSH/ANTI-AMERICAN/ANTI-WAR agenda hopefully will keep them out of power for decades to come.

Yeah, excellent. Just imagine how some future Bill Clinton, answering only to Intelligence Committees controlled by his own party, will be able to monitor anyone he wants to blackmail.

"Gee, Senator, you weren't talking to Al Qaeda after all and we apologize for suspecting you... but while we were checking you out, we happened to record this call from your son...."

Been there, done that. Only it was the real Bill Clinton, and it was called FBI files of private citizens (Republicans??) being "found" in the White House.

My moonbat brother "heard somewhere" that the NSA was listening in on Greenpeace. What? Why would the NSA waste resources on listening to Greenpeace? I called him on that and he couldn't answer. FYI -- he's a teacher.

Americans have a clear distinction between the parties...

The "spineless party" or the party of "getting a backbone"...

It's a different article on the same story, so the title isn't exactly the same. No worries. :)

""Gee, Senator, you weren't talking to Al Qaeda after all and we apologize for suspecting you... but while we were checking you out, we happened to record this call from your son....""

Why are you demonstrating your ignorance here?

What you said above shows no understanding of telecommuncations, the stated reach if the program, or the legal differences between wiretapping and pen registers.

Troll.

"Why would the NSA waste resources on listening to Greenpeace?"

Were Greenpeace telephone numbers found in Zarqawi's cellphone logs?
