AMMAN, Jordan — On the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Abu Omar received the call to jihad. Literally.
“There’s a present for you,” a voice on the other end of the phone said that morning, he recalled. It was a common code whenever his friends and colleagues wanted to share a new broadcast or communiqué from Al Qaeda over the Internet, he said.
Abu Omar, speaking on the condition that only his nickname be used, said he soon went to one of the Internet cafes he frequents in Amman and began distributing the latest video by Al Qaeda, alerting friends and occasionally adding commentary.
“We are the energy behind the path to jihad,” Abu Omar said proudly. “Just like the jihadis reached their target on Sept. 11, we will reach ours through the Internet.”
Abu Omar, 28, is part of an increasingly sophisticated network of contributors and discussion leaders helping to wage Al Qaeda’s battle for Muslim hearts and minds. A self-described Qaeda sympathizer who defends the Sept. 11 attacks and continues to find inspiration in Osama bin Laden’s call for jihad, Abu Omar is part of a growing army of young men who may not seek to take violent action, but who help spread jihadist philosophy, shape its message and hope to inspire others to their cause.
Though he does not appear to be directly connected to Al Qaeda, Abu Omar does seem to be on a direct e-mail list for groups sympathetic to Al Qaeda, making him a link in a chain that spreads the organization’s propaganda using code and special software to circumvent official scrutiny of their Internet activity.

Right now the islamists are a nuisance to the US, and they are working hard to be a problem. We could almost coexist at the current level, in fact, we have done so for decades. The irony is that once they become a problem, we will bury them.
It's not just the media they rely on, they are getting their talking points directly from their pals at the DNC. The entire terrorist network, the media, and the rats are invested in America's defeat.

A) "The Media" is an ad agency; a PR firm
B) Journalists in the classic sense are all gone, they have been overtaken by ad copy writers and spokespersons.
This is a misconception. Al-Qa'ida is a political movement masquerading as a religious one, and has always been an ideological umbrella organization. The only real difference is that rather than absorbing and facilitating between cells and movements that already exist, AQ philosophy is inspiring new ones to rise and act in their name.
These new groups have access to all that AQ is. Internet information. Training camps. Facilitators. For any that would seek out AQ's brand of jihad, jihadist expertise and support will be provided to them.
The reason that this is so is because AQ, while philosophically repugnant to many Muslims, is politically gorgeous. The idea of a bold Islamic resistance movement artfully battling the infidel West is a romantic notion that finds many willing believers. This has always required media manipulation, which AQ excells at.
To say that they're increasingly media savvy is to be ignorant of their core strengths, and strategic goals. Namely, to present themselves as the only legitimate Arab resistance movement, one that will stand and fight when the Arab tyrants cower. They've been singing that song for years; odd that the NYT is just now hearing it.

The New York Times is also useful to terrorists. And in the Times' case, it is wholly intentional. The editors and publisher of the New York Times are also members of the Democrat hate-Bush crowd, and will do anything they can to assure failure on the part of the Bush Administration.
