Arm the teachers. In an ideal world, we would be better served if the Media would report malfunctioning teens being blown away by armed teachers and admin personnel instead of 5 hours of cops searching area or sitting on their asses while people getting shot.

Arming the teachers is not a good idea IMO.

They would have to go through training in one reason and it would cost money times 4.

Parents need to be more responsible for their kids.

Teachers need to teach and have no business in the law enforcement of the schools.

Most schools have a Police resource Officer assigned to schools now a days.

Ok, let me amend that: Arm the (willing) teachers/admin. They should have armed personnel on premisis CAPABLE and WILLING to engage in close combat with an armed opponent trying to harm/kill innocents.

I agree with arming the willing. A short course in selfdefense with a weapon isn't that expensive. Training for a CWP costs $100.

MSNBC:

Former student tried to enter school. Was turned in by other students who knew he was no longer a student at the school.

Gun found off campus near/in housing construction area.

No injuries or shots fired, apparently.

Hi All-

This kind of crime happens because we permit it to happen through our actions. Parents and school administrators need to be in charge of schools...not some kids who think they can get their way with a bit of crying, whining, kicking, and complaining. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the innocent victims.

Las Vegas incident update cops know who the stupid teen is and are now closing in on a perimeter of homes.

Searching house to house and telling everyone to lock their doors and windows.

I wonder what they are doing at homes where no one is home?

What if the kid gets into a home with no one home and just lays low?

If ya really want to know the details tune in to CNN they are way to informative in these situations.
Should of heard them reporting on the sad hostage situation from last week that ended in the murder/suicide.

They went so far as to ask the spokesperson for the hostage negotiaters if a Priest could come in.
The negotiater said no because a Priest could listen to a confession then absolve the killer then the killer would commit suicide.
I thought well he would not be absolved for killing himself as that would be post confession.

Amish situation. Many shot one fatality per CNN.

Boy CNN has helicopters EVERYWHERE around the country.

Per CNN Amish hostage taker killed.

Gosh the commentary is whacked.
They are saying the Amish don't discuss sex and other topics so now it has blown up into a school shooting.

It is so dumb it is almost comical, the commentary that is.

Yes it did. There are ALREADY laws on the books making it illegal to bring a gun onto school grounds. What you suggested was to make it MORE illegal.

One law didn't make a difference, but maybe one more will? I don't think so.

Every man, woman, and responsible child has an unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon -- rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything -- any time, any place, without asking anyone's permission. L. Neil Smith

How about we get back to basics? Enough with the "gun free" victim disarmament zones. Haven't we killed enough of our children yet? Do more need to die before people get their heads out of their asses and realize that CRIMINALS WILL ALWAYS IGNORE THE LAW AND STRIKE WHERE THEIR VICTIMS ARE THE WEAKEST.

I was implying three things
  1. as DC said, It's already illegal to bring a gun on to school grounds. Another gun control law or another 30 or 40 gun control laws aren't going to make any difference to someone intent on murder. I can see it now some hopped up goth type thinking I hate people I'm going to kill a bunch of kids, oh but wait, I can't bring a gun to school, I'd better not, and
  2. those willing to go in to kill innocents are usually willing to die in the process, so a death penalty is meaningless to them. They are essentially spree killers - murdering people until they themselves are killed.
  3. and schools are safe environments for spree killers since they know that the law abiding innocents will be disarmed curtesy of Democrats and other liberals who don't give a flying f..k about children, but just want to advance their socialist agenda of "a society where only the police and military are armed."

I don't want more laws, I want a stronger one. These "children" keep bringing guns to school, killing people and giving anti-gunners ammo.

I'm saying I'd support killing a "child" who brings a gun to school in this new popular massacre style.

I think that would settle things down. The only reason it happens now is because they've lost respect for society.

I agree with you except for 2. Ingrain some respect into them by killing them if they do or try to pull a "Columbine".

People will scream about the "children" but these aren't children anymore and I'm tried of the problem.

It isn't my opinion so much as an observation. These bastards never seem to make it to trial. They usually kill themselves or are killed by police. What good is the death penalty if somone is willing to commit suicide at the end of their spree. On the other hand suppose you have some kid who forgot to take his deer rifle out of the truck from his hunting weekend - should he be executed?

Screw respect for "society". How about respect for a couple of teachers known to not only be armed, but damn good shots as well? Or the school shooting team? Or the Vic Principle noted for carrying a Glock 19 on his hip and a "mares leg" shotgun under his desk?

Criminals only understand ONE threat... death. As I've stated before, start teaching firearms safety in schools at age 8 on up through high school, allow teachers/adminsitrators to carry as they see fit.

It not only makes sense, but it has the added advantage of being effective and Constitutional.

If you think not, name one law that would have prevented ANY of the recent school shootings.

Not to mention the fact that a kid could somehow end up getting the gun from the teachers desk or purse or what have you. Or that a teacher could snap.

Or that some random nut bag could walk into a school full of defenseless teachers and students and kill a few. Or the sky could fall. Or the sun could explode.

Crime happens where victims cannot fight back. Having the means to fight back is the FIRST step towards stopping the commission of a crime. After that comes the training and the will to do so. Without the first though, all else is pretty meaningless.

You have summarized the issue very well. I agree that the best solution is to have a number of the faculty trained and prepared with concealed weapons.

It's only going to get worse the longer our schools continue to be soft targets for violent wackos of all stripes.
