First, let me say that Foley has some serious sin issues he needs to deal with and should suffer any legal consequences for his actions.

Having said that, it is clear that the Democrats are likely the source of this story in the leak to ABC. How long did they hold it? How many pages were abused while the Dems waited until "just the right time" in order to influence the election?

Note the Republicans are saying that they never saw the explicit emails until they were just released.

Republicans did not have the instant messages but somebody did.Who ARE THEY.? How did the IM's get to ABC?

Somebody's been hiding the instant messages for YEARS and saved them to release a few weeks before an election. This stinks. A grand jury should be impaneled immediately to look into it.

The liberal outfit CREW is rumored to have given the info to ABC.

CREW is involved in the Delay prosecution and the Plame case.

I have read that CREW had the info for three years. The head of CREW id Melanie Sloan who also worked for Conyers and Schumer.

This was a set up by donks because the age of consent in Washington DC is 16 (the page was 16) and his parents did not want anything pursued over this. The GOP leadership had not seen the lurid instante instant messages, so SOMEONE (A DONK OR DONKS) had them in their possession. As I write this, these individuals are trying to cover their tracks. The cover-up will make the donks look as bad as Foley and criminal apprehensions may occur.

Dennis Hastert has now publicly asserted - that is, staked his entire political viability on - a claim that the GOP leadership did not have prior knowledge of the smoking gun IMs.

I believe that he is not lying.

He is saying it publicly and on the record. I do not see any of the Donk leadership out there saying it because they knew of instant messages. THEY ARE IN TROUBLE FOR WITHHOLDING THESE MESSAGES.

The Dems knew just as well as the Rs knew. This kind of thing is not the responsibility of the perp's Party to regulate. The whole House might take action. Or the whole Senate. They Houses of Congress have done it before, it's in their job description.

Did they investigate to find out if something like that existed? No.

That's the problem.

It was obvious that something sketchy was going on. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's something. They owe it to the other pages, to the pages affected by Foley's creepiness, and the parents of the pages to find out exactly the extent of Foley's creepiness. No interviews. No investigation. They were inactive by choice.

Macsmind Blog is a great reference blog on what is going on. I've been reading it all weekend.

It seems this morning it has come out the some of the emails have also been doctored. Why, I have no idea. Foley is indeed guilty and should be locked away form all children. But, who else knew for years and did nothing.

Another Macsmind UPDATE: Interesting how the blog, Stop Sex Predators that appears to have started it all,...They’re may be a possibilty that the one who runs Blog Active.com, and the one who runs Stop Sex Predators may be one in the same. That may be Mike Rogers, the infamous Gay Republican Outer.

There was an attack on Reynolds here in NYS. Gee, why do I think this attack was instigated AT THIS TIME by Hillary.

Let's wise up. She doesn't want Bubba's lewd history to come up in the future. This is a deflection, what amounts to as a scheme saying: THIS IS WORSE because it's an old man and a young male....not an old man and an "OLD" intern.

As ugly as this story is, I do have to wonder how the media would be covering it if the accused congressman were a Democrat. It is not hard to imagine purposely brief and superficial TV coverage, along with dismissive suggestions about this is a "private matter" and below-the-fold-treatment in the daily fishwrap. Anyone remember Gerry Studds? Barney Frank? A few days of "controversy" for each and then under the rug and off the radar went the "news" coverage.

CREW's boss lady quickly noted they had ONLY the emails, not the IMs, and had given them to the FBI 6 months ago.

They backed off taking credit for the IM's the instant Freepers started asking about who had the IM's for the last three years.

Guess their boss lady recalls something from her days of prosecuting sex crimes ~ last thing she wants to do is get caught up in this one.

Guess CREW didn't have any more understanding of what Foley was up to than did Hastart ~ but ABC has some big questions hanging over it's head.

Wonder what the trial will be like when an entire broadcast network is prosecuted for assisting in soliciting minors for sexual purposes.

Gad!!!

Hastert has made that reference that those that had access to these instant messages and held on to them for years should be investigated and charged if a crime occurred. The republican leadership was not aware of these messages but the donks were. The crap is going to hit the fan for the donks over this.

The slime is out of the jar and the dem leadership's fingerprints are likely to be found all over that jar.

How the heck they keep stepping in doodoo is just one more confirmation as to why they should not be trusted with guarding dogparks much less the nation's security as a whole.

I believe this.

Simply because I don't think Hastert condones pedophilia.

They were wrong for taking Foley's word based on the E-mails. I want that forever to be changed. I want investigations at the moment of allegation, not the trust of a denial by a Congressman to end matters.

But the E-mails are another matter entirely, they were sexually explicit, and anyone that did know of those IM's DID condone pedophilia.

"A grand jury should be impaneled immediately to look into it."

I am not clear what illegality would be investigated. Withholding the fact they knew of lurid e-mails or instant messages.....is that a crime. The only crime I see so far is Foleys solicitation and that is questionable in accordance with what we know now is in them. He never engaged in sexual contact and to the best of my information he never actually solicited sex. He alluded to it. He was salacious. Where is the crime?

Foley deserves to get punished for this, no question.

If a bunch of Dems and liberals were holding onto this information to use in the election and then have the audacity to claim this morning that Hastert and others knew about this and refused to do anything....well if that's true that these left wing groups did this...they should be fried.

Check this out.

Mike Rogers over at blogACTIVE has been unwavering in his stance that closeted gay legislators who do active harm to gay men and women should be loudly outed. His biggest coup to date was the on-line outing of far right homophobe ex-congressman Ed Schrock (R-VA) two years ago, just before the elections (which forced the gay-bashing closet case to "retire"). He has also written extensively on other anti-gay gays in the congress (California's David Dreier, Jim McCrery from Louisiana and Florida's Mark Foley)

from DownWithTyranny

History repeating? The above post is from last January.

I think I will poke around the net some more...see what I can find.

To emphasize this latest point, Hastert should subject himself and the leaders in question to lie detector tests about this matter specifically.

Rush is harping away to no end about the Clinton WarRoom being in High Gear.. this is just one more way to nail their coffins shut once and for all and the futures of their minions in the House and the Senate at the same time.

Well the operative question is: if CREWS or the Donks had this information, hid it for years, and then released it to the MSM right before the elections, . . . HOW DO WE TELL PEOPLE THAT?

The New York Time evidently ran about 7 stories on this on its front page yesterday, and I doubt if any of them touched on this angle.

How do we get this news out, even if it proves to be true?

They knew a long time ago. From March 4, 2005:

The entire Mark Foley story...Read about my recorded discussions with staff members and former staff members of Rep. Mark Foley...Read about how Mark Foley hit on men less than half his age at the Republican convention

Source

And this from last Thursday from blogactive

Another closet case hurting the gay community. I am glad to know I had a role in pushing these emails out there. I've been working on the story for a few days and am excited it's out there now.

It also has the democrat pinch hitter Harman (low budget olympia dukakis clone) look like an absolute plastic schmuck.

This is going to backfire on the democrats.
