Iran wins another round in the nuclear crisis with the West.

  • ISN Security Watch reported that while a temporary suspension of uranium enrichment would boost diplomatic efforts with Iran, the UN and EU seem to have thrown in the towel, offering talks without suspension and betraying their weak position.
  • Reuters reported that president of the Islamic Republic, Ahmadinejad, said on that Tehran would not suspend nuclear enrichment despite pressure from the West. He said: "Today, Western countries want us to suspend our nuclear technology, but we say to them that we will never give it up."
  • Bill Gertz, The Washington Times reported that Iran said it is not negotiating a secret temporary shutdown of its uranium-enrichment program as part of ongoing talks with the European Union.

  • Reuters reported that Iran is using strategies that allowed its enemy Israel to assemble the Middle East's only atomic arsenal without admitting it had one.

  • The International Herald Tribune reported that Iran launched production of its most advanced cannon, state television reported. The cannon Fajr-27 has the capability of automatically firing 85 76-milimeter bullets per minute.

  • An anonymous student activist in Tehran, Telos reported that according to information supplied by student activists in Iran, the Islamic regime has used the cover of Ahmadinejad's much publicized trip to Cuba and the UN, in order to try and exclude all students suspected of nourishing any dissenting opinion from altogether registering for the new academic year.
  • The Washington Post reported that a former Iranian lawmaker who has been jailed without charges and released from detention last Thursday to attend a memorial service shouted out allegations of torture and other harsh treatment.
  • Khaleej Times reported that Iran issued a new warning to Japan to swiftly finalize a two-billion-dollar deal to develop its onshore oil field of Azadegan or see the project handed to a domestic contractor.
  • Russell Berman, Telos discussed this Sunday's NYT included an article in the "Week in Review" section poking fun at the term "Islamo-fascism."
