and Eleanor almost left FDR after finding out about his mistress.
Reposting a post I put on a couple of threads over the weekend:
Here's a little more info. Found this site earlier today.
Click on the link below if you want to see specifics about each Congresscritter (each of their names is linked on the site)
The 21st Century may be the century of graft and corruption for the Republican Party, but it has a long way to go to catch up with the Democratic BadBoys from the 20th and 19th Centuries.
Who's ahead--Democrats or Republicans? The usual caricature is that Republicans are only interested in stealing money and Democrats are content with sex. Well, let's see. Here's the score card for Congressional Bad Boys. This represents the BadBoys since 1975, those that have their own page on this website (plus a couple more).
Looking at the House Ethics Committee historical list, you'll find that there were 68 Democrats and 34 Republicans, from 1856 through 2004 who were caught up in questionable activity. (Note, the list starts keeping tabs of Democrats versus Republicans in the mid 1850s, once the Republican party was formed. Click here to see beginning of the tally). So, from the House Ethics Committee historical list, the Democrats maintained a healthy two-to-one lead.
A number of the BadBoys listed here and throughout the website are on the House Ethics Committee list, but a surprising number never appeared there or in the Senate Ethics Committee (which does not have an online list). (But check out the punishments given to Senators and Representatives).
The numbers in the table below reflect BadBoys who are highlighted on this website, those who have gotten in trouble since 1975. A couple are mentioned twice, with the second mention in parentheses.

Although Kennedy deserves to be # 1, it should not be for the reason the article cited.
How bout that rep. who 'did it' (with his wife) on the steps of congress? From one of the Carolinas I think.
Don't forget, the Democrats National Convention where the Boy Scouts were booed during the US flag presentation.
But in all honesty, they could have been booing the flag, not the Boys Scout due to their refusal to have homosexual scout leaders.
Why the heck are we comparing the 'Pubbies to the Democrats?
One of the reasons we vote for 'Pubbies to get a better class of politicritter.
Democrats have no standard.
This thread proves those that cry "but look what he did" are adolescent and morally starved.
If the assertion is "Well, the Democrats have more of a history for sexual misconduct!", I don't believe that's going to play well to the voters. What Foley did was disgusting. I don't think we should dumb down our standards to the Dem's standards.
And let's consider that Hastert has NOT handled this well. Some of his statements leave a lot to be desired in regards to the Foley matter.
Yes. Openly gay men asking to babysit your sons on an overnight trip in the woods. Nothing to fear, even WITH the past track record of molestations in the boy scouts...
Cite examples of these bad statements.
This is a media hit. Nothing more.
Vote on the issues, like national security and impeachment. They are what Congress will be addressing in 2007 depending on which way the election goes.
Fanne Foxe, the Argentinian Firecracker, the Tidal Basin Bombshell!! Certainly the best sex scandal of the bunch, and should not only be included, but also be no. 1.
"Why the heck are we comparing the 'Pubbies to the Democrats?"
The Rats are using this incident to show "hypocrisy" in the GOP. We are showing the real hypocrisy at play.
And they missed this one. It was part major sex scandal but in the early 1960s, such things weren't talked about in public like they were later.
You forgot the biggest one- Bill CLinton and his MANY sexual misdeeds!
You also failed to point out that the Congress was controlled by Democrats in the cases where they failed to act.
Please see my most recent statement on running for Congress, here.
Yeah, I've been wondering if it is known that all of these missives are authentic?
There's obviously a problem or Foley wouldn't have resigned, but as noted the tone is so different.
It would seem pretty easy to fake both emails and IMs, but closer scrutiny should be able to determine their validity.
Yea skip the dead bodies. I guess you could post the top ten murders.
We need a sperate article on how the MSM dealt with these cases - and the many, many more scandals they swept under the table when a dem was involved.
Bill Clinton should be #1
How about Gary CONDIT.
The double standard is disgusting. Some conservative should make a list of all the things that have happened and which were examples of this biased double standard.
Somewhat connected to this was this suprise I got while searching on this subject. Not major but did anyone else here know this?
Nancy Carole Tyler, Mary Jo Kopechne's roomate, died in a plane crash, near Ocean City, Maryland, on 10th May, 1965.
"...Although Jimmy Carter was a totally inept President, at least he was an honorable man when it came to upholding his wedding vows. ..."
"Yeah, but he admitted to lusting in his heart."
Jimmy kept his fantasies secret the same way Charles Carl Roberts IV kept his.
Don't forget swimming in the fountain, with Fannie Fox.
Yah...the only thing Jimmah did was talk about his lusts in Playboy magazine.
What was the name of the Senator that Allen ousted. There were lots of wild rumors involving him and crack ho's.
Ping - this is a keeper for my next debate with liberal friends
See post #48.
Only a Dem would do that. Poor Roslyn. How embarrassing.
Depends on the state. In some states "Uncle Dad" is an accepted moniker.
Good call on Condidit and Chappaquiddick.
I keep thinking that the lamestream media will quiet this down or at least offer a disclaimer on the hoopla.
But NOOOO! They are running it straight like it is from a DNC press release.
EVEN Al Jazeera says: "Not everyone believes the Jews and the US Government was behind 9-11 but..." before starting a 2 hour special on the 9-11 conspiracy theories.
But I find it a bit strange that Chappaquiddick wasn't on the list. Maybe some might argue that it didn't involve sex, but perhaps the autopsy report on the victim's body (if an autopsy was ever done) would prove otherwise.
Chandra Levy deserves mention.
Are you implying he didn't send the IMs? He did, and has admitted to it. BTW, where do you get that the E-mails were sent "years after"?
The E_MAILS were during KATRINA...the IM's were from YEARS AGO!!!
How about LBJ boinking WH maids. How about Gary Hart boinking his mistress in Bimini. How about the Cape Cod Orca, aka Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy and another Senator making a "waitress sandwich."
Hey, not every incident can make the top 10.
