Fox News: Foley Case Destroying Repub Chances
Fox News | 11/5/06

Posted on 10/05/2006 10:22:48 AM PDT by pabianice

Pending Hastert's news conference, Fox is reporting that internal Repub polls indicate that the Foley matter is destroying any chance of the Repubs keeping the House, "and maybe the Senate as well." Breaking as we await the Hastert news congerence. Fox reports that the entire country is riveted by this matter and it has "blown away" all other issues for the upcoming mid-terms.

I have a hard time believing this manufactured scandal is having this effect, but Fox seems to be shooting straight on this. Perhaps the dealy in the Hastert new conference is due to furious fighting over whether he needs to resign as speaker today. With no other candidate standing-by, Fox notes that Congress would be required to re-convene to elect a new speaker, keeping this mess in the lime light right up to election day. This ambush was apparently very well planned.

Other than the media and the new-junkies, is anyone even paying any attention to this? Does anyone even care?

I don't know where Fox is coming up with this, but I think they are way wrong. Frankly, I was sick of hearing about day one. It's been talked to death and analyzed beyond necessity. I think (or maybe hope) that all this backfires and I see some of that happening now.

Is it time to ask Gay Republicans to leave the party?

Paste: " This is a Welstone minute and will backfire."

I wish I could see how. The Welstone moment showcased bad behaviour on the dems part. Try as the MSM did, they could not cover for the dems. In this case, all I see here (that is in plain view) is bad Repub behaviour. It is easy for the MSM to coverup the dems bad behaviour (sitting on these IM's) in this instance.

I think FOX it trying to hype a news story.

So, are we to really believe that:

1 - WHEN A REPUBLICAN ACTS LIKE A D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T

2 - the disappointed Republicans will then go to the the voting box and vote DEMOCRAT?

Doesn't make sense to me.

Watch for Bush to use this opportunity to quietly veto the 700 miles of border fence. I hope I'm wrong but then again...

If Republicans let this phoney Democrat and media created non sex sex scandal effect their vote in a negative way then they deserve to lose a hundred seats

I just don't get it.

OK, Foley sent these e-mails and IMs. Maybe there's more to the story, but he resigned in disgrace.

Would the Democrats really rather have us focus on IMs where a homosexual congressman requests "measurements" shall we say, from a male congressional page, rather than on their plans for Iraq, whatever those plans may be?

this can backfire on the Dems if not careful. Because Foley is a homosexual, there is a gay bashing element here that they have to be careful about, since they are the party of tolerance of gays and other things.

They're not going to report the fact that the page was 18 because it ruins the pre-concocted conclusion or at least diminishes it.

The page was 18 at the time of the non-scandal. Why isn't that making news, other than on blogs and websites?

Scorbrough is saying the evangelicals are going to stay home. The Demo have definately won the House period. Oh I don't know I am a born again and I will certainly vote. Many see it as a duty. I think there will not be a decrease in voters because of this. I do think some of the elite Rockerfeller so called Repubs will vote for Dems as all they care about is MONEY and PALM greasing and the deals they want are probably already made.

Fox News is pissing me off. They need to report facts, not their own personal opinions. Why don't the report that ABC News is backtracking now, and investigate the source of the Instant Messages, and who was the lawbreaker that leaked them to the public?

I'm a very practical person. I call it the way I see 'em. I don't believe this. It is waaay too early for this to have any material impact on polling. So far this is insider baseball stuff and really hasn't resonated in the general public in true scandal fashion. I personally think this is disinformation.

If this story is still hot next Friday then I'd say maybe, but it is just too early in this news cycle to be impacting this hard in the polls. Something is rotten in Denmark and FOX maybe smoking some bad stuff.
