#76-Fall Arrives at Walter Reed - September 29
We gathered once again on the sidewalks in front of Walter Reed to deliver our message of thanks to the Wounded Warriors and their families and caregivers, and to counter-protest the Code Pink commies who continue to haunt and taunt our service members. It was a great night with another large crowd of FReepers and FRiends and a small crowd of pitiful Pinkos.

We said goodbye to Citizen SMASH this week. He finished his assignment here and has gone back to the "left" coast. On his milblog you'll find his farewell post Walter Reed Epilogue.

The whole list of FReepers and FRiends in attendance tonight (* indicates lurkers, PW=Protest Warrior): 2ndClassCitizen, Albion Wilde, Apple Blossom, Barbara from VA*, Bill* from MD, bmwcyle, BufordP, Cindy-true-supporter, Citizen SMASH, Clint N Suhks & Mrs Suhks & FReeper pup 'Brandy', concretebob, Fraxinus, Freeping_In_Silence, George and Ethel*, Gretchen15, GunsAreOK, ilovew, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Just A Nobody, Kristinn, Lauren (PW), maica, Matthew (PW), Olgaesq01, PleaDeal, Sensei Ern, TBP, tgslTakoma, Tolerance Sucks Rocks, Trooprally [Mr. & Mrs].
Here are my pics from the night. Gretchen15's pics are here and Trooprally [Mrs.] are here.
Trooprally [Mr.] had something to say:
Cindy_True_Supporter and us followed each other down to WR tonight and parked on the southwest corner, there by almost guaranteeing that the Burma Shave signs will be posted. As more FReepers arrived, we had two more drive over and park with us. Four cars completed the Burma Shave project.
The idea of Burma Shave Signs is that they periodically change. If you have an idea for a saying, FReep mail Kristinn. Just be sure that they rhyme, are short and to the point. Remember that the cars are traveling at least 40 MPH when they pass the signs. FReepers always express their wish to be with us. This would be the next best thing.
It was another exciting night as more FReepers began to show up. Being that there were ample FReepers in attendance, every one was able to move around and visit with each other. [Mrs] T was feeling much better and was able to get around tonight.
Pizza was very good, but with the cooler nights coming upon us the pizza cooled down real quick. Reminder to self, 'Don't wait so long before eating the pizza'.

Not sure what's going on here. Gretchen15 caught Mr. Bullhorn using old fashioned lung power to get his message across.

The Pinkos were waaaay down the block as usual. This week they tried to make their numbers look better by posting three newbies on the opposite side of the street. Yes, they have a permit for both sides of Georgia Ave....
It will be interesting to see what new signs they bring this week, what with the Foley/Page scandal and all. They must be terribly disappointed that Drudge is reporting that the most lurid IMs between Foley and a page were nothing but a prank orchestrated by several pages to goad Foley. Still, I expect the Pinkos will have some new sign demanding that Hastert resign, Rumsfeld be fired, and Bush be impeached. Whatever...

R.T.Delta was on the bus two weeks ago and his post about the ride home is A Soldier's Perspective. A shot he took from inside the Fran O'Brien's bus.
|
The bus from the Fran O'Brien's dinner is still rolling.
Speaking of A Soldier's Perspective, chcknhawk is trying to send as many boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to Iraq and Afghanistan as possible. It's the very last minute now - Friday is the deadline.
Any golfers out there? Olney Golf Park is hosting a fund raiser for the Wounded Warriors of Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval Hospital to purchase equipment to be given away (yes, for free!) to any and all soldier/sailers/airmen/Marines who have a desire to play. It doesn't matter what their disability is, the pros at Olney Golf will find a way to teach them to swing a club.

Come out and join the Salute to Soldiers from noon to 3, Saturday October 7th.
We'll be back out at Walter Reed tomorrow, Friday night, October 6th, from 6:30 until at least 9:30 at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW in Washington, D.C.
Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future. This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation.
We are told every week by patients and family members that our presence at the gate means a lot to them. The wounded warriors inside the hospital are heartened by the sight of ordinary citizens cheering for them and displaying our heartfelt thanks for the service and sacrifice they've made on our behalf. Just like last week, we were told again that the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan know we're out here cheering them on.
A couple hours one night a week is very little to give compared to what they've contributed!
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Keeping the BIG LIST: All DC Chapter Walter Reed FReeps - c/o BufordP.

Ping to WR #76 - It's finally up!
Ping to Walter Reed AAR #76!
FReepmail me to get on/off the list.
Ugh...yeah, it is supposed to be wet and cold :( I'll remember to bring a jacket this week...
Ping to some loyal americans....you do us proud!!!
It's at times like this, I wish I lived closer to the action. Thanks for the Ping and thanks for to the Freepers at Walter Reed.
Thanks for the ping. What a wonderful FReep! You guys are so great!
Counting the days until I FReep with you again.
Also racking my brain for a new burma shave slogan...can anyone think of anything that rhymes with stunts besides the obvious 'c' word??? As in:
Don't be fooled by their stunts...
they're nothing but...
Commie *****...
(a-hem. I'll be quiet now.)
Hey all!
Excellent!Love you people
Excellent!Love you people
Okay, I said I was going to be quiet but I'm on a roll here:
Don't be fooled
by their poop.
They hate America
and diss our Troops....
Woo Hoo!
If you believe
the US is best
Up ahead
they foul your nest...
Okay, I'll stop now. I promise.
Thanks for the ping PleaDeal
A rain slicker with a hood is the best wet-weather FReeper gear. And jack-boots, of course!
We are coming up to DC next week to bury our son who was KIA. After the internment at ANC on Wednesday, we will remain in town until Saturday.
I would be happy to turn to on next weeks Friday night and meet you all.
We booked a hotel in Foggy Bottom so if one of you would be kind enough to grant me a contact number in a private reply. I will be there.
Hey Boazo, good to see you again. I see you haven't changed your "About" page.
Saves on the double posting!!
[Mr] T
Thanks for the bump! Wish you could come have fun with us.
It may not rain on the D.C. Chapter, but the precipitation over the Pinkos might splash up on us.
If you're ever in town, you know where your FRiends will be!
Oh how that wrings my heart out. God bless your son. He is a hero and we will not forget. God comfort you and your family. (I know what it's like to lose a son).
You have FReepmail. And my prayers.
I may speak for the D.C. Chapter, we would be honored to have you and any others of your family come out to WR.
May God bless you and your family and may you trip be a safe one.
[Mr] & [Mrs] T
OH Dinah!!!! You surprise me!
(wracking my brain to figure out how we can actually get your rhyme across to the Pinkos) ;)
Come back soon!
Good job on the report. Citizen SMASH will sure be missed. Will see you next week, camping trip this weekend. First one I've been on in more years than I can remember.
You will find
commie pinkos
with no mind
Keep warm ya'll, and keep those Pinkos on the run, LOL.
You guys are great!!
Good One!!!

I need something that rymes with "Leftist Whining Event". LOL!

See them lie
I hope you're camping somewhere warm and dry! Or, like my idea of camping, in a motorhome :)
Have fun!
Oooo, I like that one!
I think #33 may be the best one. It's catchy, short, but points out their lies.
Hah-hah and here you were thinking I was such a LADY!
If it wasn't a hospital zone we could use Mr. Bullhorn, I suppose...
You have FReepmail and my neverending gratitude...
Brilliant WVNan!
leftist whining event - man that's a tough one Trteamer.
total low rent?
need to vent?
in shoes of cement?
I better stop while I'm ahead on this one...
I'm afraid this dates me. I grew up reading Burma Shave signs.
LOL - I had a feeling the c word wouldn't make the cut. You are right it's harder than you would think. I guess this wouldn't make the grade either.
Caution, Patriots
Better hold your nose
Up ahead
Pinko Hos.
Yea - I like this one best.
Also, we can use more than one so that we can alternate the slogan every couple of weeks.
[Mr] T
:leftist whining event is a bit too long. Could drop the leftist.....hummmmm
There it is
A whining event
Lefties marching
trying to vent
Can't you see
Lefties trying
To deceive
ROTFLOL!!!
I don't know, 'pinko hags' made it. I think you are onto something.
[Mr] T
It appears that growing up in the era of the Burma Shave signs is proving fruitful. It has kept your mind active! :-))
