Anarchy at Columbia: Protestors Storm Minuteman's Stage

(CNSNews.com) - Protestors stormed the stage at Columbia University Wednesday night, yelling, waving banners and ending the speech from Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrest minutes after it began.

As Gilchrest started to deliver his remarks at a speech sponsored by the CU College Republicans, members of the audience began yelling and cheering. He watched quietly as students rushed the stage with fists raised and displayed banners proclaiming, "No One Is Illegal."

According to a statement released by Columbia University College Republicans President Chris Kulawik, protestors took control of the stage for "fifteen chaotic minutes" before security personnel ended the event.

Good thing colleges are a place where all viewpoints are tolerated and open to free discussion, else we'd think that Columbia was a Place of Fascist Learning.

So much for free speech. This is what the left would do if in power; spit in the face of the Constitution, as it were.

Columbia University should hang its head in shame; there should be a day of mourning for the death of the light of learning that was lighted in the Renaissance and the Reformation.

We are, people, in a new Dark Age. Don't be fooled by clever technology; the heart of man is deceitful above all, and still desperately wicked.

What the Reformation and Renaissance lighted, Columbia (and other universities) are extinguishing. Shame on Columbia and the rest of them. They are not seats of learning and they are not worthy to be called colleges.

A recent survey showed that the best and highest leaders in industry and commerce graduated from local and state colleges. It figures.

All done with tacit approval of the university administration. Why else would they take so long to get control of the situation? They are sending us a clear message that the truth is not wanted in their ivory-tower world.

Information is now out that the "protesters" were a socialist group.

This is another case where the children should be seen and not heard. The know-nothing students are there for a "happening," an opportunity to drown out their betters. They know absolutely nothing about which they are supposedly protesting.

Most of the students are receiving their education, such as it is, free. They haven't the wit to connect the fact that they are living in a country like America with the right of free speech and how important it is.

The students will all make good Democrats, provided they can read and write well enough to register to vote.

Columbia University is typical of today's colleges. They should be closed.

Alumni, and donors, and prospective parents considering sending their children to Columbia, take note.
More rope, please.
Blue areas get more Blue, and people continue to flock to Red states and infect those Red areas.
In some cases the Libs convert to conservatives.
In any case, the Red states gain power.
Bring on the 2010 Census.

University Statement on Disruption of the "Minutemen Forum" Sponsored by the Columbia College Republicans

Free Speech on Campus is Everyone's Right and Responsibility.

The University deplores the disruption that took place last night at the "Minutemen Forum" sponsored by the Columbia College Republicans at Alfred Lerner Hall. The specific facts surrounding the incident are under active investigation by the University and so it is premature to make any official statement regarding facts that are yet to be confirmed.

This much is a matter of core principle at Columbia: The freedom to speak, to pursue ideas, and to hear and evaluate viewpoints totally objectionable to our own is an essential value of this university and, indeed, of our civil society. We defend the right to peaceful protest and expression of opposing views. But it is never acceptable for anyone to physically take to a stage and interrupt a speaker.

Our regulations are intended to help event organizers, participants and protestors maintain a safe environment for members of the University community and their guests to engage in meaningful and sometimes contentious debate across the spectrum of academic and political issues. We will continue to review the events of last evening to determine how that safe environment was violated and take appropriate measures to ensure it does not happen again.

Double talk from Columbia

However, these boobs at Columbia chanting "no one is an illegal" have just by their very actions asserted that Mr. Gilchrist is an "illegal".

I'm not sure if what happened was exclusive to Columbia.

Back in the late 80's, I knew two members of the Univ of Minnesota College Republicans.

After getting their undergrad degrees, they both went to the U of M's law school and three years later, came out as liberals.

The unusual part is that, while in the CR's, they would occasionally chide me for not being sufficiently conservative!

The irony of this is it was a faceoff between two groups on the extreme, one against any immigration and another in favor of unlimited immigration with no expectations of assimilation.

This confrontation took place in a building paid for and named after Al Lerner, a son of Russian immigrants who was a Marine Corps alumni, extremely successful in business, and a staunch Republican. A man whose life proved both of these groups wrong.

Are you one of those who doesn't know the difference between Legal and Illegal Immigration ???

Where have you heard that the Minuteman group is against Legal Immigration ???

I would suggest not using the Leftist's definition of 'extremist' here.

ONLY the Left pulls this kind of crap. And ironically they get a pass from a large percentage of the apolitical majority because , to stupid minds, from a distance, it translates as "passion". It is in fact, thuggery, no different at all from the bullying behavior of unionists
who rallied around every Clinton cause in the past 10 years, or the thugs on the waterfront from the halfcentury old movie of the same name.
