Who gets the crown as “White Flager in chief”?
various news outlets | Oct 6, 2006 | self

Last Friday’s revelations the dirty and in excusable conduct of former Congressman Mark Foley ( Rep. Fla. ) set off a wild series of events that have not slowed down yet.

From all over the country, we heard cries of outrage. This is as it should be. Outrage and disgust are normal and natural reactions to the “facts” as originally presented.

Yet not all of the “outraged” cries came from the usually expected quarters of our public arena. To the contrary, a sub- segment of the “outraged” comes from those whose motives are somewhat suspect. This group has been fighting to be declared the winner of the impromptu “ I am more conservative than you, cross country white flag waving and breast beating competition”.

It wasn’t easy to select a winner here. There were so many great candidates.

Nevertheless, experience in breast beating piety always beats youth. The best in show winner of the white flag waving contest is our old friend George F. Will. Over the years Mr. Will has been building his credentials and in a true sense he has been training for this moment his whole life.

The bow didn’t work.

Wearing a bowtie to try and reassure his leftist colleagues on various television shows over the years never really put in with them. He knew they laughed at him behind his back. His mission, as his career winds down has been to finally get to a position of power and authority in the liberal media world. Being the only “conservative” in a sty of leftists never really “got it” for George.

Over the years we have been subjected to Mr. Will’s vocabulary gymnastics based on his “buckley light” use of words with little currency in the real world but whose melodic sound charmed the ill informed. ( How was that for a phony George Will sentence)?

Now Mr. Will has found the “golden road”, the one he thinks will bring him back to relevance. His plan is as simple as he is. George Will has decided to beat his breast to a pulp and claim “true” conservative bona fides by calling for Dennis Hastert to resign. Not being a man who has ever mustered the courage to actually step into the public arena, Mr. Will’s call rights just shallow enough for him to beat out the other entrants. Without any knowledge of what all the facts in this case, Mr. Will has pounced on the opportunity to suck up to the left and throw the results of his demand to the wind.

It is hard to believe that even the intellectually challenged Mr. Will could fail to understand that what he has called for will lead to a panoply of disasters visited on us by the Democrats he is helping with his graveling breast beating.

The “facts” of this situation are developing and the truth is that no one knows where they will lead, but that reality is apparently unimportant to Mr. Will. Suck ups, after all never worry about the consequences, they just suck.

Some of the also rans.

The “Oh so much more conservative than you are” crowd had few other notable members waving a white flag over the past few days. Based on 3rd and 4th hand stories these people used the Foley case to beg the left for recognition.

Dave Bossie: This guy must carry his white flag in his glove compartment. He made his play for the top breast beater in the conservative world. Bossie had his nose rubbed in the dirt because he was so effective as a researcher for a Congressman who ran a very effective committee. Bossie never was conservative enough to point to his boss, a man who was an admitted adulterer, until it was exposed by the Democrats. Now safey away from that situation, Mr. Bossie is selectively outraged and ready to give the country to the Democrats so they can protect us. Since he is a researcher himself and therefore knows better, Mr. Bossie does get a few extra points for hierocracy, but not enough to win.

Cliff Kincaid: This guy is a small fish. As unimportant as he is, he really never had a chance to move up to the top. The power of his words approximate those of a letter to the editor in a small town liberal newspaper. His showing of true colors will hurt him the most as he never really was “there” to begin with and now has no chance with either side. There are after all just some many opportunities to be a David Brooks. My advice is that Cliff give MSNBC a call and try getting on one of their shows.

Michelle Malkin : As a minority conservative Ms. Malkin has always been suspect and unwelcome in the leftist media. The solve some of her rejection problem she has opened her own blog. Stay there Ms. Malkin. Sucking up to the left by calling for the Speaker to step down before you know the “facts” is not the way to promote your issues of border security and national security. The sad part is that by all outward appearances you seemed smart enough to know that. I guess I was wrong in thinking well of you. I won’t make that mistake again. We never needed you to tell us how bad both situations were, now we need you even less.

Larry Kudlow: His the sounds of cocaine induced agony still ringing in his ears, Mr. Kudlow has been on a non stop mission to rehabilitate his self sullied reputation. He was one of the first to call for Haster to pull a Trent Lott, but to his credit he has reversed himself somewhat. He really does have some brains after all. His equivocation, of course cost him the little chance he did have at winning this contest.

My Position

My position is this: I really don’t give a damn what a gay congressman has or has not done. I don’t give a damn who should have done what, or whether the situation was handled administratively well. What has happened changes nothing about the level of threat we face, except that it increases the danger we are in by making it possible for the Democrats to do what they have promised to do, de-fund the war on terror, pull out of Iraq handing it over to the terrorists and raise taxes to wreck the Bush recovery.

I can’t condemn these phony breast beating “I’m so much more conservative than you.” people strongly enough. They have endangered my family in order to ingratiate themselves to a leftist community that laughs at them to their faces and behind their backs. Nothing they do will ever satisfy the left. Not sucking up, not jumping the gun with no facts, nothing will help.

I will work as best I can to continue to get Americans to vote like the terrorists are in the next state, because they are.

To all of these people I say “ Get out of the way you feckless bunch of fools. Stop worrying about making points at the expense of the war on terror. That is the real and only issue. All the rest is politics. Politics can infuriate us. Terror will kill us.”

Keep on eye on this bunch. Should things turn around as they now look like they might, let's see how quickly they turn back.

I don't really give a damn what a gay congressman has or has not done either. Hastert should not resign because of that.

Hastert should resign b/c he is one of three people responsible for our bloated budget and spiking of the conservative agenda. The other two are Frist and Bush.

They are in the positions of power that could have put a stop to this crap yet they did not.

Hastert should resign. Period. End of story. So should Frist.

W should serve out his term.

Both Hastert and Frist have annoyed me - Hastert for not exercising more control over spending AND for leaping to William Jefferson, Democrat Lousiana's defense over the investigation by the FBI, and Frist for not exercising more control over spending AND for letting McCain set the agenda too darn many times. That said, I don't think anyone should resign over this.

As an aside, I'm perpetually surprised by George Will's willingness to kick Republicans over the cliff the moment they get close to it.

I'm sure we will get to watch the Republicans once again, step on their d*cks. It is really sickening.......no matter what scandal real or imagined, the Dems dream up, the Republicans will stumble around until they fall on their swords once again hoping the Dems will like them.
