Dan (Rather) on hold (Dinosaur Media DeathWatch™)
Above the Fold ^ | October 5, 2006 | Ed Bark

Posted on 10/06/2006 8:56:35 AM PDT by abb

Dan on hold 10/05/06 02:18 PM Dan Rather Reports will still be coming soon to Mark Cuban's HDNet. Just not as soon.

"We are moving Dan back to after the elections so there won't be as much going on," Cuban said in an email Thursday.

The weekly "completely uncensored" news program originally was slated for an October start. Rather and Cuban officially broke the news to TV critics at a July 11th dual press conference in Pasadena, CA.

Cuban, who also owns the Dallas Mavericks, said he was happy to free the former CBS News warhorse "from the ratings-driven and limited depth confines of broadcast television."

The one-hour program will originate from New York, where the soon to be 75-year-old Rather has been assembling a staff.

"Hard news needs backers who won't back down. Mark Cuban is such a leader," Rather said in a news release touting his new program. It was a not so veiled shot at CBS, where he spent more than 40 years until a "Memogate" scandal tied to President Bush's Texas Air National Guard service led to his resignation earlier this year. Says a lot about their confidence in Dan.

Are they still trying to find a font for the show's logo?

The return e-dress was "MidlandStore32@Kinkos.com", so watch out, Dan...

With the implosion of the Rather/Mapes type of drive by lynching of Foley and the attempted electronic lynching of Denny, these rats made a wise decision to hold off with Blather.

I can't wait to not see or hear Blather, or to read posts here making fun of him when he finally starts mangling the news.

Sounds like a rethink to me. Perhaps they see what the far left is doing to web sites and how many don't watch perky little Katie Puke. Maybe it's time to give listeners the real, whole news and quit telling them how to think about it. For the most part I can noodle it out on my own and for those things I just don't get, there's FR to help out. Thank God.

Well, since Cuban doesn't care about ratings this project should work out very well.

I think Mr. Cuban's decision to delay Dan Rather's appearance until after the elections may have to do with fears of libel or slander litigation the sloppy, half-senile Rather may produce with his "investigative reporting" in the few weeks before November.

"Hard news needs backers who won't back down."

Of course, what Dan meant to say, was:

"Fraudulent news needs backers who know how to run fake documents through a copier a dozen times, and how to turn off the superscript and kerning functions of their word processors."

Courage, Dan, you Castro-butt-kissing leftist tool.

I feel the same way. I can imagine the conversation:

Cuban: Dan, how do you plan to cover the election?
Rather: I'll destroy Bush. It won't be like last time! I know just what I'll do --
Cuban: Dan! Settle down! I want you to just cover the news. Can you do that?
Rather: I'll do that. And I'll do more! I'll wipe the floor with him! No one likes a man who beats his wife! Wait till America hears what I've got --
Cuban: Dan! You're spraying spit all over me. I think we're gonna have to hold off until after the elections on this ...

since he's already had McGovern and Soros this week, might as well go for the trifecta!

The weekly "completely uncensored" news program originally was slated for an October start.

So, by "completely uncensored" I presume this means that Rather will be able to lie, spin, and trash Republicans with total abandon? What else could it mean? That Rather will now be able to say f*** Bush on the air instead of off?
