This speech is so wonderful....but unfortunately, the MSM media won't share it with Americans. Julie; -no, to them the Foley e-mails/IM's are far more important than OUR freedom!!!

I'll try to watch the replay later.
GHWB and Doro were both teary-eyed on LKL the other night, and LK was "almost" entirely respectful for a change.

The ceremony was attended by really lousy weather -- rain, wind. Some of the speakers were asked to cut short their remarks as the crowd was getting soaked. At the end of G. H. W. Bush's speech, a big, booming thunderclap rolled from the skies and GHW Bush said, "I'm finishing, Lord, I'm finishing, don't worry about it!"

Just fabulous .. probably said right at the moment of this heavenly swoon on Bar's face ..and who could blame her? The story is right out of a movie. ..... sigh ...
Has anyone been able to see the video on the Northrup-Grumman site? I get a blank screen .. on both Firefox and IE. If y'all have any tips, please let me know. I REALLY want to SEE this speech.

I'm watching the very last person on the video (the singer Dr. Ronan Tynan).
The site is set up weird. It took me a while to figure it out, and I don't know if Firefox works, but I was able to view on IE. You do the test, then at the bottom left of the page, there is a link that you have to click:
Christening of the George H. W. Bush CVN 77 Aircraft Carrier
Windows Media High
THEN it activates the video screen in the top right corner.

If you have the time, I hope you can see the whole shebang. I learned some things about our Naval history, ships, shipbuilding, wars, and more.

Senator Warner explained the history of naming US ships during the commissioning ceremony, how we began by naming them after living people, then for 174 years dropped that practice, then returned to it during a "discussion" with Rickover on one side, Warner in the middle, and Melvin Laird on the other side. It was interesting. Worth watching the video.

YAY! Watching now. For some reason, as many times as I reloaded the site, it would show it was playing, but the screen was blank. Finally, I clicked on the "windows media player high" on the left, and for some reason, that did it.
W wasn't smiling at all as he was walking in .. he looked
troubled. That always makes me concerned. Laura looked adorable .. like a 30 yr. old American beauty. I love her hair today, 'course whatever way she does it, it's beautiful. Would I ever love to have her hair ... sigh .. ;(.

Now that's the right thing to do! An Aircraft Carrier named for a WWII Aircraft Carrier Pilot and Hero.

I'm glad our ships are all Christian.
ONe would think a dedicatory prayer for a "christening" ceremony could end with "In Jesus' Name."

I had similar problems getting the video to start. Glad you got to see it. W did seem very serious. Doro had difficulty getting through her speech without choking up too much.
I thought the weather was interesting, storm clouds, rain, and at the finale, two loud (the second one even louder than the first) thunderclaps. It seemed portentous to me.

SSN 23 is named after Carter. I find that disgraceful. They should rename it.

Ye gads! How dare they "christen" a US ship. Don't they know about the seperation of church and State? How dare they make this ship a Christian ship! This is an outrage! All Athiests and Muslims should take up arms and riot until this ship be un-christened. How dare the George Bushs disregard our constitution and force their old and bigoted religion on all of us. Get the ACLU and sue, I say sue!!! (She says with tongue firmly in cheek for those in Rio Linda)

Not to mention (cough, foot shuffle), a Christian chaplain called on Almighty God to bless the ship and all who serve on her (to destroy the enemies of America when / if needed).
