He also promised that if they don't he will resign. Has he started packing yet...if not he should.

Yes indeed:

"Consider this leadership lineup:

Speaker of the House: Nancy Pelosi
Chairman, Ways & Means Committee: Charles Rangel
Chairman, House Judiciary Committee: John Conyers
Chairman, House Appropriations Committee: David Obey
Chairman, Government Reform Committee: Henry Waxman
Chairman, Energy & Commerce Committee: John Dingell

The average age of these congressmen is 72. By contrast, Newt Gingrich was 51 and Dick Armey was 54 when they led the Republican revolution and takeover in 1994. Revolution favors the young.

Another number to keep in mind is 98--the above lineup's average voting-record rating, as scored by the liberal Americans for Democratic Action. Poor Dingell scores only 95. The Michigan congressman once served as a board member of the National Rifle Association. Obviously, this right-winger will have to go. "

Simply put, Americans are smart enough to look past the rhetoric and vote for the candidate that will do the best work for this Country as a whole.

This article sounds more like wishful thinking than reality on the ground.

Most Democrats and MSM have always believed Americans to be "fly over Country" and therefore easy to manipulate with one issue scandals. It has not worked in the past, and I don't see it working this election either.

What this crap throwing party by the MSM and the Democrats has done this year, is, bring out many Republican voters who would stayed home this election to teach them a lesson.

I was one of those Republicans, and I am hearing from many others who were thinking the way I was.

The Democrats and the MSM may think they have the election all wrapped up and are now picking their leaders for the House and Senate, but, my Grandfather always taught me a couple of thinkgs that have stayed with me all my life, first, you don't count your chickens BEFORE they are hatched, and second, NEVER crap in your own nest!

The Democrats and the MSM are doing exactly both!

I'm not too worried about the Democrats taking over. It is hard to imagine them doing anything worse than the Republicans have done in the last 12 years with the increase in bloated government. The Republicans have abandonded their promises for smaller government -- face it, they are now the "bloatware" government.

Between that and being a social libertarian, about the only thing that I see worse with a Democratic Congress is National Defense.

However, that's the big issue, on the federal level, for me.

When did you move to DC?

I agree, republicans will retain the house and senate.

Republicans may have become the party of big government, but the Democrats are the party of total government. If they get the majority in both houses they will not lose it for at least the next 30 years, if ever.

See how small government will be then.

I don't think that this Foley scandal will help Democrats nationally as much as Barone indicates. Furthermore, there is a possibility of a backlash against the Dems for overplaying their their hand in this, especially with their dismal record in disciplining their own wayward members in the past. There is still a whole month to election day.

The Dems have nothing appealing to offer. Their main hope is to go negative in order to keep enough likely GOP voters home on Election Day.

"But if the GOP does lose control of the House, it will be based on the unforgiving outrage of enough social conservatives deciding to vent their anger at Republicans and staying home on election day."

Fiscal conservatives are tired also...tired of the bs...

Who held on to the incriminating instant messages until this strategic delivery date?

The Democrats of course as well as their political allies, the radical homosexual activists. But of course you in the liberal media already know this (same way the editors of Newsweek knew that the author of the book Primary Colors was their own Joe Klein, but pretended not to know). So stop playing dumb, US News. I see right through you.

I suspect he like the Wall St. Journal would like nothing more than to see the democrats take over.

I do not trust the media period... never have... even the so-called "conservative" media... it just ain't there...

ESPECIALLY something that is from the U.N. capitol...

But if the GOP does lose control of the House, it will be based on the unforgiving outrage of enough social conservatives deciding to vent their anger at Republicans and staying home on election day.

It'll be based on the unforgiving fiscal conservatives who are upset that the Pubbies under Bush have been bigger spenders than even past DemonRAT congresses. Many have not forgiven Bush for his "No Child Left Undrugged" initiative and big expansion of the Dept of Education as well. I know that I'm tired of having to pay private school tuition as well as taxes for public schools while even in Utah the Pubbies don't have the guts to take on the filthy teacher's union.

If the Republicans want the conservatives to vote for them then they have been acting in a very peculiar manner. The old "But Democrats are worse" excuse is cutting less mustard.

I'm gonna vote for them and hold my nose once more. But I know plenty of conservatives who are staying home in disgust. And Foley has nothing to do with that. There are so many ways that the Pubes have alienated their basic constituency that you couldn't begin to list them. Too many conservatives are moving to the opinion that there really is little difference between the two parties. The Pubes seem to think that they can just throw a couple of bones at election time again and the conservatives will line up for them. A lot of conservatives here also believe that after the election the border fence law will simply die on the vine and no money will be allocated for the fence. It wouldn't be the first time the Pubes have betrayed the base.

A lot of conservatives are sick of the high handed and arrogant way the National Republicans treat them. If they stay home the Pubbies are screwed.

>>>>>If the fickle few ...

At this point, most political junkies realize its more then just a few fickle social conservatives who are disgusted with the GOP. Social cosnervatives just happen to hold the most wild cards in this election. Most conservatives are fed up with the centrist Republicans who control Beltway politics. The status quo mentality has to go. Instead of constantly demeaning social conservatives, GOP moderates should be praying for a miracle come election day. If Democrats retake the House and/or the Senate, the current Republican leadership of Bush-Hastert-Frist will be primarily to blame for losing power. Not social conservatives.

More importantly the WOT. The liberals will have us surrender to the terrorists and throw our military to the wolves.

Smart Republicans are not going to set the SCOTUS back 20 years by staying home, voting third party or voting Democrat.

I love my country and the military.  I'm voting straight R.
