Ditto.

Michael Barone is not to be dismissed. He's among the most brilliant and informed observers of politics out there. That said, there is still four weeks to go and that's a lifetime in politics.

Normally it is in midterm elections.

I do not trust the media period... never have..

It's obvious who they want to win but it ain't going to happen. Most conservatives know Speaker Pelosi would be a disaster to the USA.

We have won and we're going to win.

I just cannot make sense of the hypothesis that because Foley chatted inappropriately with possibly underage pages, the Republican base will not turn out for the election and thus will hand a win to the party that heretofore pinned medals on the chest of the likes of Foley!

Maybe but he's also partisan. He like Morton Kondracke try to act as a "moderate" voice, always willing to give the GOP advice but in reality they're democrats who are pushing a left, liberal agenda.

"WOT"

Yes, I agree. I have many issues that I am concerned about (including supersized government), but the WOT trumps them all at this point.

The leftist media keeps shoving McInsane and JulieAnnie out there as the only hope for the Republicans in '08... I don't believe a thing they say...

"Republicans may have become the party of big government, but the Democrats are the party of total government."

Magnificent point!

>>>>The old "But Democrats are worse" excuse is cutting less mustard.

Even though its true, I know what you mean.

Bottomline. AFter fighting for conservative values and beliefs over the last 30-40 years, most conservatives are disgusted with the ongoing WashDC agenda being advanced by the GOP. Politics as usual was always fertile ground for Democrats, but was always a tough sell to the conservative rightwing.

Btw, good post.

"I'm gonna vote for them and hold my nose once more. But I know plenty of conservatives who are staying home in disgust. And Foley has nothing to do with that."

But if they do, and the Dems win, no doubt the MSM will say Foley is why!

You have been disgusted with the GOP since Bush got the nomination.

That would be the ideal matchup for them, McCain versus Hillary.

When it comes to policy, legislation, they are pretty much dead. They couldn't hold 218 votes for liberalism, plus the Senate will still be in GOP hands.

The only thing that is the big change will be Conyers and Waxman with subpoena power. That is a big thing.

LOL, conservatives caving to the cynical and simple mentality of "Jon Stewart" politics?

God help them, I will not participate in their martyrdom.

The very fact that the liberal slime machine released this Foley scandal when it did (though I'm glad we're free of Mark the Pervert) demonstrates just how unsure Dems are of winning back the Congress.

I still firmly believe we will retain control of the Congress - in both Houses.

When will we be hearing those adds? All I hear is anti-queer speak from the far left and its adoring media. The Republican need to spend a whole lot of money to get that message out, and there is not a minute to loose.

I took the first 2 lines of your remarks for the truth, because it is not far-fetched. Then, I hope, you were scrapplefacing us.

I think JulieAnnie is their Trojan Horse, a two card Monty for the limousine liberal Madison Avenue bunch...
