TEHRAN (Reuters) - A senior Shi'ite Muslim cleric who has challenged Iran's system of clerical rule was arrested on Sunday after his supporters clashed with police outside his house in the Iranian capital, Iranian news agencies reported.

Ayatollah Mohammad Kazemeini Boroujerdi was detained with several supporters, Iran's student news agency ISNA quoted the deputy governor of Tehran, Abdollah Rowshan, as saying.

The Iranian authorities are wary of any challenge, particularly from top clerics, to the system of clerical rule that was established after the 1979 Islamic revolution by revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Notice the phrase "Jesus Freak fold" in its comments. Then notice the tagline I've been toting for the past week.

I will pray for whomever I wish to, whenever I wish to and alert as many people to join me as I wish to. Anyone who has a problem with that is just tough out of luck...I will not be a silenced Christian just because someone was offended by my prayers.

You certainly have a heart for prayer and for Christ. I pray that some of it will rub off on me.

That is high praise, and I appreciate it. I will pray for you, but I think you have just as much heart as I do!

Bad news, this is... Prayers for this man, and all of his freedom-loving supporters.

from streetpreacher :“Who said anything about praying for their conversion (not that I wouldn't)? I thought we were praying for their freedom. You're quite a God hater aren't you?

from streetpreacher: “And seeing you and he go ape over a simple post requesting prayer for a volatile situation makes you both sound like as much of an intolerant liberal bigot as the folks over at DU.”

from trussell: “Notice the phrase "Jesus Freak fold" in its comments. Then notice the tagline I've been toting for the past week.”

Trussell even referred to me as “it”. So I am not even a human in your eyes? That’s very Christian of you.

Thanks again and happy Sunday to the both of you – I think you both made my point about intolerance even more eloquently than I ever could. Thanks.

BTW - Neither of you know anything about my religion or my personal relationship with God.

I was only coming to the defense of another poster who you both attacked after he made very valid point as did I. No one is saying you can’t or shouldn’t pray as your conscience dictates. I and I think caresistance was just saying it that the prayers didn’t add much to the political conversation on subject to the post and the people of Iran are not Christian.

No one attacked your religion. Get a grip.

Oh, I'm sorry I must have misunderstood you when you compared us to Iranian Islamofascists and terrorists:

I don’t thing caresistance is saying you can’t or shouldn’t pray on a personal level nor do, I but I think prayer threads don’t add anything to the conversation, a social-political news story and calling caresistance a “pretty bad Christian” or chastising him as a libertarian makes you all sound as much of a zealot as the folks Boroujerdi is rebelling against.

My entire reply to you was simply your post reconstructed in the same manner using the same logic you employed.

As far as the above reference, I must admit that using the term "libertarian" was hate speech. LOL. Even though the poster self-identifies as one.

I often refer to posters as "it" until I am positive of their orientation. I am not certain if you are male or female, so I used an indifferent term.

caresistance did attack my religion in inferring I shouldn't post a prayer request on the thread...that's just too bad if "he/she" (better?) doesn't want to see prayer requests, because I won't be silenced.

I don't recall "attacking" caresistance. Care to point out my "attack"?

Doubtful. It seems he is simply a Shi'ite mullah, who does not hold with the fringe "Hastener" sect that thinks bringing chaos, nuclear war included, will bring the return of the Twelfth Imam.

Don't forget Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani in Iraq has been objectively helpful to US policy in the region, though he really is on his own side--the side of the vast majority of Shi'ites who thing waiting patiently for the Twelfth Imam is the thing to do.

I am sure they have studied our MSM, who are experts, and know how to bury evidence or ignore any uprising.

Do I need an invitation to join you? I hope not because I already did join you.

"Thanks again and happy Sunday to the both of you – I think you both made my point about intolerance even more eloquently than I ever could."

The only point you made was your intollerance of public prayer. You also insulted Christians in the process.
