What's 'top speed' for a 'giant comet', anyway?Depends on the power to weight ratio.

Really hate these asteroid strikes. I can't count how many good actors that have been lost to them.

Calling Bruce Willis.
He died in Armageddon. Calling Ben Affleck.
Can't, he died in every movie he ever made.

It's that magnificent bastard, Karl Rove, at it once again. Bush will deflect the comet and save the world - the ultimate October Surprise.

The impact will cause devastating tsunamis, earthquakes and avalanches, says Fedorovsky. Will, I guess I'll be subjected to Bush 1 and the Toon on TV asking for donations.
With all the dust the thing will kick up, I sure am glad I waxed my car yesterday.

"The last Kreutz Sungrazer to become bright was Comet White-Ortiz-Bolelli in 1970. It is not possible to estimate the chances of another very bright Kreutz comet arriving in the near future, but given that at least 10 have reached naked eye visibility over the last 200 years, another great comet from the Kreutz family seems almost certain to arrive at some point."
The Great Comet of 1843 was followed by two in 1884, a forty-one year interval. The last big Kreutz comet, Comet Ikeya-Seki, was in 1965. 41 + 1965 = 2006. Anyone want to start playing the Twilight Zone music?
