So, the Dems release incriminating information on Foley just in time to hijack some votes that otherwise would not have gone to the dem party. Why would they do such a thing? Because they're pathetic, child sacrificing, losers...

Reynolds needs to point out in his ads all the NAMBLA and child porn-enabling legislation supported by the Democrats with pictures of San Fran Nan in the NAMBLA Gay Rights parade. Reynolds needs to quit his mea culpas and get a spine. He didn't do anything wrong and he should act like it.

"Wonkette accuses Hastert of holding the event in the graveyard. Actually, Hastert’s people deserve more credit than that. The speaker was across the street from the cemetery. He was standing outside the Fox Valley Park District building where had just spoken with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce."

----- Wonkette was just upset that Hastert was getting too close to Democratic base at the cemetery who are summoned from the grave on Halloween and return after the November elections.

Isn't Bill Clinton associated with the Global Peace Initiative?

Does Hastert have the authority to fire Pelosi staffers?

The Speaker is also responsible for overseeing the officers of the House. He has the power to appoint the Historian and the General Counsel; moreover, he appoints the Inspector General jointly with the Majority and Minority Leaders. Some senior officials of the House—the Clerk, the Sergeant-at-Arms, the Chief Administrative Officer, and the Chaplain—are not appointed by the Speaker, but elected by the House. However, the Speaker holds the power to dismiss any of these officers, with the exception of the Chaplain.

This is what I have found so far:

Thanks. It would be nice if Hastert were able to fire the Pelosi staffers.

This is what I have found so far (which tells me nothing):

Authority of officers of Congress over Congressional employees

(a) Qualifications determinations; removal and discipline Each officer of the Congress having responsibility for the supervision of employees,
including employees appointed upon recommendation of Members of Congress, shall have authority—

(1) to determine, before the appointment of any individual as an employee under the supervision of that officer of the Congress,
whether that individual possesses the qualifications necessary for the satisfactory performance of the duties and responsibilities to be assigned to him; and

(2) to remove or otherwise discipline any employee under his supervision.

(b) “Officer of the Congress” defined

As used in this section, the term “officer of the Congress” means—

(1) an elected officer of the Senate or House of Representatives who is not a Member of the Senate or House; and

(2) The Architect of the Capitol.

The damage from this trivial scandal could have been minimized by widely publicizing the actual text of the original emails, instead of just characterizing them as "overly friendly" and allowing people's imaginations to fill in the blanks. That would also have emphasized the differences between the IMs and the emails, a distinction that the MSM has tried to blur.

I wonder if Hastert's clumsy response has cost us more votes than Foley.
