There SNOW business like SNOW business, there's no business I know.

Everything about him is appealing.

Everything the press corp will allow.

Nowhere do I get that happy feeling,

until he's stealing that extra bow!

I well remember those days, when if you got in trouble at school for any reason, no matter how minor, your teacher made sure your parent/s knew and you'd get it worse at home than at school. I always felt safe at school, except for the bullies, but they never knocked anyone's teeth out or things like that. We were, of course, always on guard for strangers who lurked around the playgrounds. I did have a very scary man follow me home once and I darted into my optician's office and had them call the police (fourth grade). The man was still circling the block on foot by the time the patrol car arrived. They picked him up and took him downtown for questioning, and called the optician back to say, "Be sure and tell that little girl she did the right thing." But times were so different all the way around. I bemoan the loss of discipline in our schools. And the fracturing of our society.

I thought that too -- the way too mature look. You have to wonder what it does to the survivors of school shootings who don't have an anchor.

And then there's THIS little girl, going to or returning from the final Amish funeral. Trust and innocence shattered.

I watched/listened to most of it yesterday, too. Tony is just amazing. I, too, miss having him on the radio, but I am thrilled that he is doing what he is. He is a fine man and doing a spectacular job.

That is a nice one. I didn't see it. Even with all the stress it brings, I think GWB really enjoys his jobs and loves the people.

Just after the 2004 election, the National Geographic did a video about the Secret Service. It is excellent. These guys work very hard a protecting our President. I can't imagine what it was like for the SS personnel who had to protect Bill, Hill, and Chelsea. Can you imagine risking your life for them?

I would love to see it! I will have to see if it is at the library or can be purchased. And no, I can't imagine how those agents made it through when 42 was president. Ugh. I wonder if there was more turnover in agents than usual. As a woman, I don't think I could have stood it if I knew that my husband's duty was to take a bullet for him.

But times were so different all the way around.

Yes, they certainly were. I never thought I would be referring to the "good old days" at my age. Was not that type of statement reserved for those 70 y/o and up?

I bemoan the loss of discipline in our schools. And the fracturing of our society.

My sentiments exactly. It is not just in our schools, though. It is everywhere.

When a 10 y/o child tells her parents that if they smack her she will call the police on them, that is a problem. This actually happened at my neighbors in 1996.

When the police would yell, "Stop - Police!" It meant you had best stop. Today, the perp laughs and runs and the police are helpless to stop them.

Sad.....very very sad.

The program is titled, Inside the U.S. Secret Service. It can be purchased at amazon.com or at the National Geographic website. It's very good!

I recently read a post by an ex-secret service agent. In it he related how the current agents love W. He arranges his schedule so that they can be with their families as much as possible, especially at holiday time.

When he's in Crawford, he and Laura prepare BBQ for the agents. He knows them by name and continually asks about their families.
