OK guys , now we are complaining about John Campbell? I live in Orange County and can report that Campbell ranks as a solid Republican, not a RINO. If he doesn't meet the standard of what is acceptable, then we might as well give up. Campbell is a fiscal and social conservative and will vote the right way 99.9% of the time. If the goal is for the Republican party to get to the right of John Campbell then we will never have a majority in Congress. Heck, even the likes of Christopher Shays of Ct. is preferable to a Rat. Even a guy like that is going to vote the right way 80% of the time and keep the Rats in the minority which is what really matters.

OC will never get that land back...it's a wonderful benefit for all the people that live there, and I'm glad it's being set aside for that.

The first mention of RINO was in Reply 21.
Two other poster's left the impression of reservations about Campbell, based on his public history, but made no direct accusations.
Indeed, my post had little to do with RINOism but was a continuation of discussions with czar from over a year ago.
Irvine hasn't had a $70K house since the late 70's... one thing we loved about living there was the planned community/village concept with parks and bike paths you could ride all the way to the beach.
I'm with Sam on this one. Irvine has done a good job of creating and sticking to what the original vision was from the beginning.
Whose "original vision", framers of the Constitution or the United Nations?
My recollection is the same. Prior to assuming Chris Cox's seat, Campbell had a somewhat checkered record insofar as his conservative credentials are concerned--which is why I used the phrase "latent RINO tendencies". Since being elected, as I also said, Campbell has come down quite hard on the side of anti-illegal alien issues, which I also pointed out.
Nevertheless, the reputation of any politician must consider the entire record, not merely what he has done for the past year or two. Accordingly, while Campbell has done well so far, I choose to remain watchful. Remember, Chris Cox was a conservative because that is who he is, and as demonstrated by his entire record.
