King Abdullah: We are really running out of time!

Jordan's King warns Palestinian statehood at risk due to feuding

AMMAN - Jordan's King Abdullah warned feuding Palestinians on Wednesday that their hopes of statehood could be permanently wrecked within months unless they step back from the brink of civil war.

Palestinians had to put aside internal differences and face other challenges, he said, citing what he described as a growing right-wing camp in Israel pursuing an uncompromising "fortress Israel" mindset rather than "integration in the region."

A power struggle between Hamas and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction that triggered the worst internal fighting in a decade last week could be exploited by Israel and worsen the Palestinians' plight, Abdullah said.

"All of us have to work to reach out to our Palestinian brothers and get them to take a step back and see that this is not the time for infighting," the king said.

"A lot is at stake today and if we fail now, we risk pushing Palestinian aspirations so far behind that it will take a long time to bring us back to where we want to be, and in the process, risk the future of Palestine," he added.

Abdullah said time was fast running out to forge an Arab-Israel peace based on two states, Israel and Palestine.

Abdullah said time was fast running out to forge an Arab-Israel peace based on two states, Israel and Palestine.

"I really think that by the first half of 2007 we might wake up to the reality and realize that the two-state solution is no longer attainable, and then what?," he said.

"I think we are really running out of time. Physically on the ground and geographically, I think there is less and less of a West Bank and Jerusalem to talk about," said Abdullah.

"We want to go back to the 1967 borders. We are talking about that today. Are we going to talk about that tomorrow though?

This is the danger," he said."The Arabs have to step in. They need to be close to the negotiating table when the Israelis and Palestinians sit," he said.

"There is a great opportunity [in the plan] but there is a great danger of missing it... especially if civil war happens."

Abdullah can create a Palestinian state anytime he wants on 80% of the Palestinian Homeland that his little kingdom occupies.

FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.

Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.

Israel pursuing an uncompromising "fortress Israel" mindset rather than "integration in the region."

if they did not have EVERY neighbor and countryman trying to kill them they would not have to....

let them have civil war, perhaps after a good bitter taste, they might be able to talk sense

Hey King Abdullah, why don't you cut a chunk out of Jordan and give it to your palestinian brothers and revive their statehood aspirations and dreams?

...because that's not what this is about and you KNOW it!

Palestinians had to put aside internal differences and face other challenges. . .

King Abdullah needs to save his breath and take up more fruitful pursuits:

I think this little guy gets paid by the warning.

Every second day he (as his father before him) warn about something.

And that something is always that doom is approaching and.....it's always Israel's fault ("growing right-wing camp in Israel pursuing an uncompromising "fortress Israel" mindset rather than "integration in the region.")

I don't think he's all that anxious for a Palestinian state right on his doorstep after what the Palestinians tried to do to his father.

2007 and then what? Well at least all seem to have their clocks strangely sycronized on the year 07. The EU 7 year budget also begins with 07, the UN's new guy...?

Anybody who wants to understand the lie of the Israel/Jordan/Palestinian story need just look at this map of British mandate Palestine.

And then read this quote from the article:

Jordan, which hosts the largest number of Palestinians outside the West Bank and Gaza

Who is actually the HOST and who is the guest? The indiginous people or the Arabian Hashmites?

"I really think that by the first half of 2007 we might wake up to the reality and realize that the two-state solution is no longer attainable, and then what?," he said.

And then what? Well one solution is that your "subjects" chop off your head and take over the Government which will immediately create a Palestinian Arab state. Problem solved.

The "one state" solution might involve Israel within its current borders (more or less), Jordan absorbing the west bank, and Egypt absorbing the Gaza strip.

This whole Palestinian state thing is a straw man. They don't want a Palestinian state, they want Israel destroyed. Truth is, if they Israel were to cease to exist so would any talk of a Palestinian state. They only want one thinking it will give them a better shot at waging war on Israel and winning.
