Rome (dpa) - Islamic extremists have tried to hack into the Vatican's website, Italian police said Wednesday. The hackers' attacks began several days ago but caused no noteworthy damage, Ansa news agency reported, quoting the police.
Further details were not immediately available.
Police only said Vatican Radio's website had also been affected.
Sources in Rome said the hackers were probably targeting Pope Benedict XVI's recent controversial remarks on Islam and violence that caused a cause a furore in the Muslim world.

How do they know it was Islamofascists?
I suppose it's probable, but you need something more to actually assign blame.

Hateful basta*rds! Why don't they find a decent religion that believes in peace, love and forgiveness? (that would be Christianity or Judaism)

I'm sure the technical people over there have pure backups of the site on hand.
All they have to do is figure out what they need to put up to prevent Islamic hackers.
Can't wait for non-Islamic hackers to get pissed and strike back 100000 times over.

I figure the government military hackers are monitoring the websites of the Islamic terrorist for leads.
If they are not doing that and have not been constantly knocking them down, then we have insanity going on regarding the strategy.
I take it the terrorist sites are monitored.

Unless they were trying to hack into the coffers of the Church, I can't see what they could accomplish. Annoying, maybe; fatal, not likely; but if they could hit the jackpot, they've found a means to finance when other routes are closed. I guess it's worth a try -- I would hope there's someway to follow them home and missle lock on the target.

Once again, islamists only destroy, never contribute anything positive to civilization.

In bash you'd put this in .bash_profile:
export PS1="<. .>\n (@)\n$:"
Too bad pink isn't one of the eight colors available. Maybe white foreground and red background. That'd make the PS1 variable
export PS1="\033[37;41m\]<. .>\033[37;1;40m\\n\033[37;41m (@) \033[37;1;40m\\n$: "

A friend just told my mother that Mohammed cannot be compared to Jesus, but rather one should compare him to his true compatriot of the spirit i.e., Madame Blavatsky.

Hey, you left out Buddhism, and Taoism
Even atheists are more peaceful than Muslims appear to be...
Does that cover most of the world religions or what?

I Googled this story. There have been attempts, apparently, but I could not find any references to recent hacking attempts. (Sickening, though, were the many blogs that Google found that devoted discussion to hacking the Vatican's site.)

Deutsche Presse restricts use of its material on the web, so it's hard to find. I got this by email from a proprietary news service, and copied/pasted it here.
To: NativeNewYorker
Okay, I didn't know that. Thanks.
