There should also be an Asia pinglist, too. (there's one for Japan, but it is infrequent, and Japan is not all Asia). There could also be one for Latin America and a pan-European one.

Former President Bill Clinton makes remarks during a campaign rally for Democratic candidate for congress Patrick Murphy in Bristol Pa., Wednesday , Oct. 11, 2006. Republican Sen. John McCain on Tuesday accused Clinton, the husband of his potential 2008 White House rival, of failing to act in the 1990s to stop North Korea from developing nuclear weapons. In reality what is happening in Korea is the side show. Everyone has known for some time that the Dear Chia Pet Leader has had the bomb. The only real question on that end is if it was supposed to be a vest pocket nuke, or if it was a dud. We should know that in a couple of days, but the fact that they told the Chinese 4 kilotons and actually only got .5 leads me to think dud.

The real interesting developments will be in Japan and South Korea. SK has been not been living up to treaty requirements to provide US forces in theater with a bombing range. They have also spent a lot of time bad mouthing the US. If they become more friendly then that would be a major change.

Also if Japan starts to rearm or builds nukes of their own than that would in the words of the Dear Leader be "Hugh and Series".

It also remains to be seen if this helps the Democrats, because Bush looks powerless, or the Republicans, because Carter and Clinton got taken to the cleaners so badly by Kim.

The only good news for us is that the NK have one less bomb than they did lasts week and UN, and anyone who puts their trust in the UN, looks like an even bigger bunch of idiots that they already did. Not much compensation for all the trouble, but at least it is something.

Could I be included on your ping list, please.

By the way,...caught a CSPAN video of a panel in Washington that was pretty good.....

Some new insights for me.....

One statement from the panel was that "the divisions between China and North Korea may be bigger than between us and North Korea"

The Chinese think they are crazy and are deeply concerned about the collapse of the regime, as is South Korea....more concerned on that as a possibilty than whether or not they have Nukes......

N.Korea Threatens Japan Over Sanctions

(AP) A North Korean official threatened "strong countermeasures" against Japan for new sanctions against the communist regime, Kyodo News agency reported from Pyongyang on Thursday. ...

"The specific contents will become clear if you keep watching. We never speak empty words," he added.

... Song said that Pyongyang considered Japan's measures as "more serious in nature" than other nations' because Tokyo has yet to adequately atone for its 1910-1945 colonization of the Korean Peninsula.

"We will be taking countermeasures by calculating that in," Song said.

""We will be taking countermeasures by calculating that in," Song said."

That doesn't sound good for Japan.
