The first one that passed by and manuevered overhead sounded very awesome. The others were normal awsome. All the fly overs here in Silver Spring, just north of D.C., were by jets flying solo.

And another one. What an awesome sound.
Just had two jets pass over Rockville, again. Pretty cool.COLOR ME JEALOUS. VERY JEALOUS.
Ahhhhh....the sights and sounds of freedom!

The first one that passed by and manuevered overhead sounded very awesome. You would love "flex deck" operations.
Your heel is on the foul line. In front of you is your turning bird, be it a jet intake or a prop.
Twenty feet behind you, a F-14 slams onto the deck, catches a wire, goes full afterburner, comes to a stop and shuts the hell up.
You shove your fillings back in and resume the watch.

Every FReeper needs a digital camera with movie capability. I got mine. Don't leave home without it

THUNDERBIRDS I heard them coming and by the time I got to the window they were past and moving away so I caught them from behind. I have to confess that I don't know enough to identify by name from behind and moving away (and probably not standing next to them on the ground). Sad, I know.

WMAL just said that there were 6 - F16 Thunderbirds flying today, and (I didn't catch it all clearly) that tomorrow (or the next day's events, ??) there will be a parade of 14 different jets from "history" or something like that...
I may have to climb up on the roof for that.

Saw what Pete saw, over Wheaton-Glenmont, heading SW about an hour ago. At first had the worst fears, noted no armaments, then remembered this weekend. Bunch of reunions around town, going out to the A-26 banquet at IAD on Saturday. Love those old guys. Also, a B17/B24/B25 show at Mont. Co. Airpark.

Winner. Passed over my house. The underside paintwork on the F-16 is the giveaway. Awesome.

With all these vigilant aircraft spotters nearby, you should have a party for us.

I was in Shirlington, VA for lunch and saw the fly over. I was concerned at first until I saw that they were flying in the missing man formation.

Actually, it was a flyover IHO last month's AF birthday. You know the Air Force. They get to it when they get to it.
To: black_diamond
Cool!! I'm having two birthdays this year...today AND tomorrow.
