Famed photog takes us inside the human experience
It's a journey through the human body never imagined. Here are the most stunning, detailed photos of new human life ever photographed - published in the United States for the first time.
Titled "Life," the collection of oversize color images from scientific photographer Lennart Nilsson magnifies the wonders of the human body like never before.
Nilsson is best known for his iconic 1965 Life magazine cover shot of a living human embryo - the first time that life at such an early stage was captured on camera.
Using the world's most powerful electron microscope in Sweden, Nilsson has documented everything from the inner ventricles of the brain and plaque deposits on teeth, to the HIV virus encompassing a white blood cell - all blown up to show exacting detail.
But most impressive is the step-by-step photos of a fetus forming, shown in the photo gallery below. While such images won't quell the abortion debate anytime soon, their beauty alone deserves pause and admiration.

Forget Roe v Wade let's require that these pictures be shown to every woman(and her hsband/boyfriend/parents if there is one involved) who goes to a clinic to get an abortion and then require that she has to wait 24 hours to make her decision. It won't stop them all, but it would make a huge dent.

Nilsson, Schmilsson. So ...you're into Dobsonians -- but don't appreciate fine technical photography.
Curious combination...

As far as ordering Nilsson's book goes - his pictures are gorgeous. But they had to be made in collaboration with abortionists.

Do you have evidence of that? I'm not seeing anything about that anywhere...

Regarding Lennart Nilsson's taking pictures of unborn children who may have been aborted:
I tried a search and couldn't come up with documentation but I did once read that Nilsson took photographs of pregnancies that were ended for "medical reasons." And Nilsson claims to take no position on the abortion controversy.
During the sixties when Nilsson began taking his pictures, there was no fetal surgery or laparoscopic technique and Sweden was the progressive abortion capital of the civilized world. You would not endanger a desired pregnancy by invading the uterus with a camera.
Certainly if you take a picture of a very early embryo with an electron microscope, it's in vitro and it's dead.
Now it might be possible that all of the later embryos or fetuses had died in utero (incomplete miscarriage) or that the pregnancies were ended because of a threat to the mother's life. But given Sweden's abortion policies then and now, I am inclined to doubt it.
It is something to prayerfully consider when you see the photographs or think of buying Nilsson's work.
If I am wrong here, I would appreciate any information to the contrary and I am deeply sorry for slandering Nilsson.

That image is stunningly beautiful. I don't know why the pro-abortionists can't see that.

Well, all I saw was one place where he was described as putting the cameras in during amniocentesis and how proud the mother was that she could see her child. Didn't sound like an abortion... He also talked about how incredibly difficult it was to capture the implantation pics... Like I say, may be that his earlier works were all with abortions, but I see no evidence that this book is based upon abortions... Personally, I'd like to see a copy of the book and judge for myself...
