The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on Friday, Oct 13 to Muhammad Yanus and Grameen Bank for developing micro-credit as an instrument in the struggle against poverty.
This must come as a shock to "Peace Mom", Cindy Sheehan, who announced at a recent book signing in Texas that she was a finalist for said prize.

I thought that they were going to give it to the leader of Hezbollah for "beating" Israel, but I guess they decided to wait till he is dead.

Actually I kind of like the selection. Recognizing a economist who taught the value of capital investment in poor areas, allowing them to realize the rewards of entrepreneurial effort, and the bank that put those theories to work? Beats last years selection. IMHO, of course.

Now there's an idea. The Free Republic Annual Award for Persistence of Stupidity or POSY.
Full of double entendres and puns. Combine it with the forth quarter frathon, a vote per dollar for your favorite poseur, liberal, RINO, RhINO (for the log cabin boys), or fiscal conservative/social moderate willing to have you pay for their social programs.

A few thoughts:
Sounds more like an economics prize than a peace prize.
Hey, Cindy! I heard I was a finalist, too.
They didn't select you because you said you wanted to kill President Bush but didn't also mention wanting to kill Donald Rumsfeld.
Of course, one of the most famous winners of the "peace" prize is Betty Williams who recently also declared she would like to kill President Bush.
From now on, all Peace Prize winners must be Muslims since it is The Religion of Peace. All other religions are, therefore, Religions of Hate and War.

Is your who about Sheenan or Yunus.
Yunus is the man who started micro-finance as a global movement.
FYI Microfinance means providing access to capital to poor people.
East Coast Foundations loved to give them money, but could not possibly imagine they might be able to pay it back.
Yunus proved them wrong and that free market capitalism is the best route to poverty alleviation. Give people capital and they can help themselves. This is an award going to a man who achieved massive, positive social change using conservative principles.
He derserves it very much.

You are quite right. Finally we have someone who shows that the path to prosperity starts with the free ability to invest capital and not by dumping a bunch of taxpayer's money on a bunch of corrupt third world despots in hopes that they will "invest" it wisely and honestly.

re: Cindy Sheehan loses Out On Nobel Peace Prize
And to think, some people say there's not a benevolent God who answers prayer. I think He knew that I'm up not up to an insult like her getting the peace prize. Jimmy Carter almost pushed me over the edge and I had just about recovered from that travesty, but Cindy Sheehan winning it would have been too much for me.
Seriously though, my heart and prayers to out to Ms. Sheehan. She is not a happy person and appears to spend much of her time suffering. I pray she will find her own peace but I fear the Lord has hardened her heart. I pray I'm wrong.

if he is to busy defending his rear on the money deal, Between the MSM refusal to touch the story (seen it on TV or in your print paper?) and the GOP refusal to bring it up in public (seen it on the cable shows the past two nights?), you and I, and Harry, know this story is already past its freshness date.

Script / Text of Act IV Macbeth
ACT IV
SCENE I. A cavern. In the middle, a boiling cauldron.
Thunder. Enter the three Witches
First Witch
Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd.
Second Witch
Thrice and once the hedge-pig whined.
Third Witch
Harpier cries 'Tis time, 'tis time.
First Witch
Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison'd entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights has thirty-one
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot.
ALL
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Second Witch
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and owlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
ALL
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Third Witch
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches' mummy, maw and gulf
Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark,
Root of hemlock digg'd i' the dark,
Liver of blaspheming Jew,
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Silver'd in the moon's eclipse,
Nose of Turk and Tartar's lips,
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger's chaudron,
For the ingredients of our cauldron.
ALL
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Second Witch
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
Enter HECATE to the other three Witches
HECATE
O well done! I commend your pains;
And every one shall share i' the gains;
And now about the cauldron sing,
Live elves and fairies in a ring,
Enchanting all that you put in.
Music and a song: 'Black spirits,' & c
HECATE retires
Second Witch
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks!
Enter MACBETH
MACBETH
How now, you secret, black, and midnight hags!
What is't you do?
