Strange bedfellows: Michael Savage Donates to Democrats
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/16/06 | arual

Strange bedfellows: It turns out that ultra-hot conservative talk show host Michael Savage is backing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown for state attorney general. "What can I say? I think he'd make a great attorney general compared to the other guy. By the way, who is the other guy?'' Savage said, when asked why he chose Democrat Brown over conservative Republican Chuck Poochigian. Savage, whose rants can be heard locally on KNEW-AM, is backing up his hot talk with some hot money as well. Savage Productions, which lists Savage as president and his wife, Janet Weiner, as director, has donated $5,600 to Brown's campaign. "You have to make choices in an imperfect world,'' Savage said. "And this, this Machugian guy. (Like we said, it's Poochigian.) I never heard of him. I don't even know who he is." Poochigian has spent the past 12 years in Sacramento, first in the Assembly and now in the Senate. Doesn't impress the president of the Savage Nation. "Why bet on a horse that isn't going to win? Why throw your money into the garbage?'' So how did the best-selling author of "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder'' wind up backing a liberal once nicknamed "Governor Moonbeam"? "People change. He changed. He has experience,'' Savage said of Brown. "He started the Oakland military academy -- that was a good thing." And Brown's politics? "He's moved to the center, which is what this socialist state needs," Savage said.

"He's moved to the center, which is what this socialist state needs," Savage said.

"So that's about it. I'm sure you will spin this and make something out of it."

Brown campaign manager Ace Smith would say only, "Michael Savage is one of 5,000 contributors to the campaign."

As for the Poochigian campaign, chief adviser Ken Khachigian told us, "We have Bo Derek, they have Michael Savage -- so between us, we've got the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.''

Who needs to spin after that?

Let him pick whoever he wants. At least we shouldn't enforce groupthink on him.

If he wants to vote for the original illegal immigrant, in this case from a distant planet... let him.

Wasn't Gov. Moonbeam the guy who called capital punishment state-sponsored murder? Isn't he the guy that support inmate rights that allowed criminals to distribute kiddy porn while in stir?

Savage has definitely jumped the shark with this donation?

Well, I actually think he's right that Jerry Brown has moved to the center, and I don't actually think he'll be all that horrible as AG, although I'd still vote for Paghoogian or whatever his name is if I wasn't still voting in Washington.

But for a wingnut like Savage who thinks virtually every member of Congress is a socialist, he's just proving what most of us already knew: He's either a liar, and idiot, or mentally unstable. Possibly all 3.

Never thought much of Savage. And I think less of him now. What a flake.

I never heard of him. I don't even know who he is."

Maybe it's just me, but I would certainly check out the positions and qualifications of the Republican candidate before supporting the Democrat in any election.

The "I'm voting for the guy I heard of" rationalization is the talking point of the braindead "moderate" voter who has no interest in actually learning about the issues before the electorate.

Most of his fans here will still worship him because they are “morons” like him.

I will just say that Michael Savage is a human.

He is not a god emperor worthy of worship.

He makes mistakes sometimes.

But his "BORDERS, LANGUAGE, CULTURE" statement rings more true than "GLOBALISM, BILINGUALISM AND MULTICULTURALISM".

Simple.

.....unless anyone wants to repeat "Islam is a religion of peace" again, like President Bush cannot say often enough???
