WESTERN countries are fighting World War III and it would last a generation, former head of Israel's Mossad spy network, Efraim Halevy, said in Melbourne yesterday.
Mr Halevy, who ran Israel's intelligence agency between 1998 and 2002, said a major terror attack was possible in Australia.
But he said the public didn't appear to realise the seriousness of the threat.
"The threats today are aimed at destroying the whole way of life in democratic societies . . . of turning back the wheel more than 1000 years," Mr Halevy said.
The security adviser to former prime minister Ariel Sharon and now head of strategic studies at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said Islamic militancy was squarely aimed at establishing an international caliphate.
"The goals here are global. The goals here are absolute," Mr Halevy said.
"This is a modern-type third world war . . . (but) it's very difficult to convince the public there is a war at all."
Mr Halevy said the three major threats the world faced were weapons of mass destruction, Islamic terrorism and risk of rocketing oil and energy prices, and said all those threats emanated from the Middle East.
"If the world is threatened by the Middle East there is no option but for the world to come to the Middle East," he said.

It is indeed WWIII and Europe has already lost to islam because of their economic dependence on muslim immigrants. The entire Western world is infected with the bacteria of islamofacism and the ignorant dupes are focused on who in Hollywood is screwing whom, and consumed with modern "rights" like homosexual marriage and fairness for captured terrorists. The West has taken its collective eye off the ball, and we are losing the war against islam precisely because we are winning the so-called "war on terror". Those of you with insight will know what I mean.

Am I the only one that thinks this action, while perhaps "imprudent", would save lives in the big picture?
I don't know what it is, but I always feel like I'm missing a piece of the picture. It seems like there is a "right" thing to do.
The PC mindset is what will end our civilization. We need to remember that the right thing might always be the "nice" thing. As badly as I'd love for everyone to be at peace, that's not possible when "the other guy's" idea of a good time is slitting my throat.
Reminds me of that scene out of Indiana Jones. Here is this masked villian slashing his sword around ready for action and, there, right on our hip, is a pistol. My dad always reminded me of the old axiom, "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.".
So, what exactly are we waiting for? Hmmm?

The liberals do not see this as a war at all IMHO. They see it as a necessary step towards a world government in which we all 'participate'. As another poster said, their fascination with Islam is key to the fact that, when the Dems take over the W.H. and Congress, they will hand the U.S. over like a plate of appetizers.
Unfortunately I think is going to take a major terrorist attack on the US in which many thousands af people die and American muslims are shown on the six o'clock bad news dancing in the streets in celebration.
We will be lucky if the muslims do cause a major terrorist attack in the US to make people wake up.
If this doesn't happen, then we will probably slowly boil until we're all muslims.

I don't mean to go on and on but didn't anyone see this coming. The only shot we have is to STOP THEM, IN THEIR TRACKS. Go there like we did to Japan in WWII, We had to do it twice but then IT WAS DONE. The whole world has lost respect for the us. We either have to get INTO THIS DOG FIGHT or go to the tailor and get fitted for robes. A berqua for us gals. I couldn't have said it better sassyb. I fought my war and now I'm pushing sixty and partially disabled but I'll be damned if I'll bow down to Mecca. Unfortunately, judging by the last few elections, about half of US would rather switch than fight. Possibly they think it won't come to that. I think they are just too decadent to care and don't want to be bothered with reality. Sadly, it's a toss-up who will decide our fate.
