Nelson Continues To Lead Harris. (by 26 points in Florida Senate race. It's over)
Tampa Bay on line ^

A new Mason-Dixon poll out tonight shows Democrat Bill Nelson leading Republican Katherine Harris by 26 points in the U.S. Senate race.

Nelson polls at 57 percent; Harris at 31 percent. Nelson has been ahead by at least 15 points since Mason-Dixon first began polling nearly two years ago.

While campaigning in North Florida this week, Nelson told supporters that the race would even and that garnering 55 percent of the vote would be a landslide.

Harris spokeswoman Jennifer Marks released a statement, saying "Congresswoman Harris has a long history of rebounding from negative polling predictions because her message of cutting taxes and securing our nation's borders resonates across the political spectrum."

She is also very short on cash and Nelson is so far ahead, he is not spending any of his huge monetary warchest.

She tried. We will miss her.

That race was over before it began.

Sounds like Nelson will have plenty of money to send to other 'RATS.

Sadly, Nelson was never in any danger of losing to Harris.

Unfortunately Harris campaign was wrecked by scandals and staff problems and little support from the national party. She is a great lady who would have made a terrific Senator.

Unfortunately this race was lost almost 6 years ago when the establishment GOP allowed her to be demonized simply for doing her job.

The Bush administration tried to convince Harris to bow out but she was stubborn and refused.

They realized something which Republican idealogues wouldn't admit — that she is unelectable state-wide, even against a vulnerable candidate like Nelson.

Florida was a wasted opportunity.

that she is unelectable state-wide

Get some new talking points.

How did she become Secretary of State of FL, Congresswoman, and won the GOP Senate primary then if she's "unelectable."

My thoughts exactly. Too bad we couldn't convince Tommy Franks to run.

The gloom & doomers pounce on the Harris threads just as quickly and assiduously as the broom sweepers who follow the elephants at the end of a circus parade, LOL.

Sadly, Nelson was never in any danger of losing to Harris.

What happened to all this "conservatives must go out and vote" and "broken glass Republicans" and all that good stuff?

It applies to Chafee, Lieberman, and Schwarzenegger but not to real conservatives such as Harris?

Well, that, and the fact the GOP establishment took every opportunity to isolate her, demonize her, conduct whispering campaigns, deny endorsements until the end when they were forced to tepidly endorse her, try to recruit one candidate after another to challenge her including a certain disgraced recently former Republican Congressman who's last name begins with an "F" and so on.

All of that might have served to help depress her chances of success too.

And when one of you can point to a good reason why Harris is so unsuitable to serve, but lightweights such as Chafee and Murkowski are not? I'll listen to you. Until then this is a seat I chalk up lost by the smear campaign the GOP led against its own candidate primarily.

BTW, while I concede the seat is probably gone, I don't concede a loss under 40%. Sorry, not buying it.

If I lived in Florida, I would vote for Harris, not a problem.

Her campaign did have problems and missteps. She's a wonderful person, the timing was not right on this.

If she does lose, it will an opportunity missed.

She's 26 points behind — that's a landslide, and then some.

It's also an indicator of unelectability.
