Need 1-Pager, to Counteract Lying Attack on Pro-Life Candidates on Stem Cells
vanity ^ | 10/23/2006 | request

Some of our most important candidates are being attacked in Big Lie campaigns, stating that if elected they want to "outlaw stem cell research."

I've seen it in attacks upon Senator Talent of Missouri and Rep. Mark Green, opposing Jim Doyle for Governor, here in Wisconsin. Doyle has bought heavily into TV ads with this slander.

FReepers should know that pro-lifers are strongly for adult stem cell research, since this is the only effective treatment for disease. We also konw that fetal stem cell production creates human cloning farms and has never done anything but poison human subjects.

Does anyone know of a good 1-page flyer or letter on the subject? We should circulate it and press our pro-lifer campaigns to do the same.

Sorry I'm in a rush, but some links for the grassroots group fighting
the pro-cloning amendment in Missouri are posted below.

Additionally, they've been handing out 1-page flyer titled something like
"10 Facts You Should Know About Stems Cells and Cloning".
I can't find a .pdf for it on their site.
If you can't find it either, and are really interested, you could drop
a dime and ask them about it at: 636-536-9877.
(there might be an e-mail contact on their site, but I'm just too rushed
to search)
Good luck!

"HORSE FEATHERS!!"

Plenty of pro-lifers are FOR research/therapies/cures with adult stem cells
(or embryonic stem cells from a patients own cord blood).

Well, you could also look at it this way:
Those pro-lifers are against the tumors that have been the general result
of attempts to use embryonic stem cells, so far

e.g.,

Stem cells create tumours, says expert
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1721981/posts

And do read the article.
You'll see they are talking about embryonic stem cells.

Both treatments I see on the main page (Stem Cell Treatment Reduces Parkinson’s Symptoms and Beike - Nora Farkas) are using adult stem cells.

I posted these a long time ago, still the only 1-page flier I am aware of on what you are looking for.

Scroll to bottom right corner to:
USCCB Ads Go Nationwide!

The one on the left of the baby boy is the better, IMO. These ran as full page ads in USA Today and other nationals and gillions have been distributed as handouts. Anyone can bring the PDFs to their local printer and make as many as they can.

I never specified which type of cells being used. It wasn't clear at the start of the thread.

Stem Cell Research: Questions and Answers

Thank you Donna. This looks to be the best, most usable piece I've seen so far. Sent it to the Mark Green campaign in Wisconsin. Their response: "...the information you attached is very helpful. We will make sure our policy team and Mark Green review it."

"We are doing our best to get the message out that Doyle is spreading lies about Mark Green and you can help us by spreading the word to your family and friends."

"The Green Team ."
