Ann Coulter sure was right about liberals always using victims because they can't otherwise win an arguement.

The victim is the shield deflecting attention away from the vapidity of their position.

God's surest test of man. Looks like he has love for his child, but not for all of God's children.

Vapidity, distortions and outright lies. All three are in play in the MJF Democrat campaign ads.

I have no respect for liars. If it's mean to point out MJFs demagogic lies then I'm mean.

If you have cared for Parkinson's patients, then you definitely have more experience with the disease and the people who have it than I do. I respect you for sharing your expertise and trust you on your "gut" feeling.

For the record, I didn't say that what he did in this case was dignfied. What I meant was that he has shown dignity in previous, non-political interviews, and shared his personal experiences and fight with the disease. In those cases, I have no doubt as to his integrity. In the last couple years, he has become more vocal and political. Let him express his views. I still respect him.

You're not mean. I also have no respect for thieves, liars, and bad drivers that endanger others while they break the law. However, when it comes to Michael J. Fox, I can't help but feel compassion for the man, regardless of his political stance and misguidedness, and so I give hime a break.

Why don't we talk about the reak hollywood liars, you know the 24/7's...Susan Surandon, Tim Robbins, Barbara Streisand, Rosie O'Bone head, Sean Penn, and others. They have done more damaage to America and its image than anything Fox has or can do.

[ "The irony is that I was too medicated, I was dyskinesic," Fox told Couric. "Because the thing about, the thing about being symptomatic is that it's not comfortable. No one wants to be symptomatic; it's like being hit with a hammer." ]

Two terms of President Clinton and his consort were like being hit in the head with a hammar too, I know the feeling..

Your post is excellent and well phrased, and I have no disagreements with your statements. Your final point is especially good regarding the fact that this topic should be more discussed and debated in the public arena. I look forward to seeing your comments in more threads.

I think I have compassion for MJF too. But in my idea of compassion I don't have any room to participate in ignorance. MJF is ignorant if he thinks liberals want to help him. He is ignorant if he thinks ESCs hold any hope for him or others. He is ignorant if he thinks he is bipartisan. He is ignorant if he thinks the government should be funding any medical research.

For me compassion means helping MJF out of his ignorance.

If he wasn't being dishonest I could sympathize. If he wasn't intentionally trying to hurt others in order to help himself I could be gentle in my approach. But he is being dishonest and he is intentionally trying to hurt others so the most compassionate thing to do is slap him upside the head very hard so that he stops his negative actions and takes some time to think about what he's doing.

His illness doesn't make him any different than the other libs you mention except in one way. He should know better.

Nobody's stopping MJ Fox from expressing his views. Indeed the Democrats are importing the same ad into several battleground states including Maryland, where Michael Steele has come out with a counter-ad that blows Fox out of the water.

Yes, of course he has the right to express his views. And we have the right to point out that he is lying.

And I also have the right to fart in MJF's general direction too-
