State Treasurer Phil Angelides can accurately pinpoint the biggest reason he badly trails Arnold Schwarzenegger in the race for governor: Most Californians either don't know him or have bought the ``tax-and-spend liberal'' impression molded by savvy political rivals.
Many analysts suggest that no liberal Democrat -- even one who runs a perfect campaign -- stands much of a chance against the moderate Republican whose Hollywood charm and power of incumbency give him an advantage in style and substance.

Gee, can't imagine why, considering that Angelides himself keeps saying he will raise taxes...
Watch the hand -- it's the hand he will use to sign higher taxes, homosexual marriage, licenses for illegals and universal, government run health care -- and that's just for starters.
Isn't it cute how the liberal MSM soft pedals this radical socialist...."tax and spend IMPRESSION".
Nice try. He will lose because of WHAT HE IS. And the portion of California's voters that are not mentally challenged, know it.
Even if Angelides can't get elected, this Edwin Garcia is willing to play monica for him.
..yeah, tricking him into appearing to be a complete weasel worked...
Pretty big starters. He also wants to impose a tax if you tune up your car!
and he also supports borrowing big bucks thru massive bonds, taking action against global warming.. for starters.
Oh Wait
No, that's the Gub positions too.
Darn.
impose a tax if you tune up your car
ya don't say,, Philthy bast*rd!
He wants to raise taxes by over 18 BILLION!!!! Arnold cut them by over 20 billion!
Arnold cuts taxes! Phoney Phil raises them!
Arnold cut them by over 20 billion!
Yeah and he borrowed 15 billion to help make up for it.
Yep! It's on his list!
Difference is Phoney Phil won't pay any of what he borrowed back, and will tax everything he can think of. The Gub cut the deficit by 20 BILLION and turned down "One Bill Gil" twice. No driver's licenses for illegals. Those were the two things that he said he'd do and stuck to it. Phoney Phil wants to raise taxes over 18 Billion! I'll take the Gub anyday, even though there are things I disagree with him on.
And then paid it back. Sorry NR. I gave up the kook-aid awhile back and think clearer now. The Democrats' game doesn't work on me.
How does Edwin see with his head so far up Phoney Phil's ....
Talk about spin! The picture that Edwin paints of PA is really impressionistic....after drinking alot of the kook-aid.
This is a brain on drugs. Just say, "NO"!
That's the hand he scrunched up during the debate, thumb and fingers touching, bobbing up and down like a silly sock puppet.
I don't want that hand to EVER get hold of a signing pen!
There are alot of porkers sprouting wings these days, since the Los Angeles Times endorsed Arnold.
Look it's a bird...it's a plane...
A cold spell winter in Hades is my prediction. It ought to throw Al Gore for a loop...again.
Yep there's *got* to be a snowball spinning very fast in Hades right about now. Gives me great hope that folks in CA are not (yet) completely off the deep end. I'm a transplant from Indiana (75% Red State), and so far (been here a year) CA's been driving me completely nuts.
Angelides being behind in the polls has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he is running against one of the most famous and recognizable movie stars of the past 20 years!!
Who's playing games?
You may want to check on that paid back part, btw.
even though there are things I disagree with him on.

Glad to hear it, we have enough pom poms around here already..
It's a shame we will likely be running significant deficits for years, regardless what party holds the reins.
Thank goodness we have enough republicans in the state assembly to block tax hikes,, for now anyway. if only the same could be said for taking on new debt and a lot of it.
Fortunately, I'm down here in San Diego - lots of conservative and military folk around here, so it's not that bad - have people to commiserate with. Tho, I'll be heading back for Midwest shortly. I want my guns back.
Hey Norm, as fantastical as it sounds, some of us here are hoping for some coattails. Please cease the ilk'ish bitterness.
18 point lead ,, 11 days to go,, and 5 state offices won't be enough to sate ya? You'll need front end loaders, not coattails for the dems to have half a chance to hold much of anything..
Loosen up already,, geeesh.
Stop with the negative nonsense and I'll loosen' up.
what's negative about expressing opinion, this is an open forum in case you haven't noticed., is there a law against that? I doubt you even know how to loosen up.
I knew you couldn't do it.
I wouldn't expect you to stop your bit either.. moderates and progressives don't know when to quit, even when they win. lol
Why don't you print this out and post it above your computer:
Tom McClintock: "Like many of us, I too have disagreements with some of the Governor's proposals. These differences, however, do not justify the abandonment of our party's responsibility to work tirelessly to reelect this Republican governor and to elect our GOP candidates to statewide and legislative offices.
For this reason, I view any effort to attack Governor Schwarzenegger as an attack on my own candidacy and those of every Republican seeking partisan office in 2006.
"Is there a thread on many CA props and candidates for the upcoming poll with lots of comments?"
===
Not that I have seen, but there is a thred with Tom McClintock's recommendations on the propositions.

And the recommendations of GOP:

I have higher goals and aspirations for the state unlike some here who seem to tolerate almost anything these days including massive spending increases yearly, massive borrowing measures on almost a yearly basis, and a little debauchery for taste as well on the side.
Amazing what some of you are so tolreant of, imo, just amazing. and I am the bad guy, Go figure.
What is this, the new FR Borg policy, I hadn't heard it was illegal to actually be a independent thinker these days, Thanks for the note.
Too bad we can't all be clones like you and the Milk and many others who don't seem to care much about little things like that anymore, huh? Just win Baby, Don't sweat the debt load.
"I have higher goals and aspirations for the state "
You call having Governor Angelides with a Dem Legislature a higher goal?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Have I at any time ever posted anything advocating Philth for GUb,, you folks in the moderate weinie camp need to grow some skin,, you're childish comments are seen by many here for what they are,, lockstep adulation from a shill for the GOP .. go ahead and insinuate away , you and a few others seem to be expert in that.
Here the Gub is up 18 points and you just can't stop demanding lockstep adherence to the GOP putsch of a few years ago and the leaders of same. Take your centrist swill and toss it some where else, why don't cha, it is wreaking in here as is on threads where you spam away for more socialism as being all we can hope for here in California.
The debate is not just about taxes,, yet that's all you can offer and a veto here and a veto there, laaa tii daaaa.. all while the state budget continues to bloat, and the borrowing never stops and how many new employees has the state hired since the Recall?
My ballot is already filled out, and it doesn't have a check for Philth on it. But that won't stop you and others from haranguning folks here who are exercising their rights to free speech and reasonable discourse on issues and conclusions that seem to be beyond you fathoming..
Go ahead, post your usual prattle response.
Quite a few of us are more than accustomed to it, it's like a barking dog next door.

As opposed to your ilk bellowing.
