This is why "future Democratic presidential nominee Barrack Obama" has been trotted out so much.

Excellent and preceptive point. I was wondering why Obama is being trotted out now and been on MTP and the cover of Newsweek a few weeks before the election. Bingo. You nailed it. The Dems/MSM are worried about turnout and the only way they can toss African-Americans a bone, is to hold out the carrot that Obama will be a Presidential candidate.

They scream the GOP is the party of racism but how interesting is it that 2 of the 3 black Americans running for governorships this year are Republicans?? And of only 2 blacks running for the Senate, one is a conservative Republican running in a heavily Democrat state. The other is a left wing Democrat who is trying to sound like a Republican.

I don't think Ken Blackwell is going to win. But I would give anything to see Mike Steele win in MD. He will become a national figure and put Oslama Banana to shame.

I predict that Steele wins MD senate, directly as a result of that phenomenon.

It is not the percentage, but the turnout that is important.

The Rat massah should whip the slaves harder to get the desired turnout.

Ya know it's true..........fear is a better motivator than love for people who are not very well informed and have been kept on a "plantation" for some 40 years. Very sad indeed.

great point - however, I'm wondering if Obama is black enough to really resonate with liberal, black voters.

“This notion that elections are stolen and that elections are rigged is so common in the public sphere that we’re having to go out of our way to counter them this year,” said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist.

Dear Donna,
Just who has worked very hard for 6 years to convince black voters that elections are rigged? Duh. See the irony here?
Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

Yes, it will be, "Blacks won't vote because Republicans have made the system so corrupt!"

Yes, and they are now screaming about the evil Diebold electronic system - WHICH THEY INSISTED WE HAVE exactly because of their distrust of the simple butterfly ballot!

Agreed. I expect Russert to give Steele a hard time on MTP this week. I would also note that Cardin has pulled out of debate in front of a black group in PG county. I saw the recent debate on C-SPAN. Cardin does not come across as a likeable candidate. He is the consummate insider and bureaucrat. He is going to need Russert's help. Steele nailed him when Cardin accused him [Steele] as being the handpicked candidate. Steele responded that Cardin was the handpicked candidate of the Dems and that Mfume should be the one sitting across from him since Mfume entered the race first.

Well, I didn't read the story, but I personally know a couple of blue collar black couples who are fed up with the democrat's stand on immigration. They are worried that low and lower middle income jobs are being stolen from them.

Is that angle being covered anywhere?

Actually Cardin is a "nice guy". This is 1 of the reasons I fear him. Plus he's been a constant name in this state for 20 years. People just know his name, and you know the idiots who get to vote just because they recognize a name will be out there.
