Last Tennessee Senate Debate Held Saturday (Corker (R) and Ford (rat) on CSPAN 10 pm Tonight)

The candidates for Tennessee's open U-S Senate seat hope a strong performance Saturday in the last of three debates will give them an edge.

Republican Bob Corker and Democrat Harold Ford Junior are locked in one of the tightest races in the country going into the last full week before the election. The race could determine which party controls the Senate next year.

Ford a Memphis congressman has tried to portray himself as more expert on federal and foreign policies than Corker. But Corker a former mayor of Chattanooga is trying to label Ford as a Washington insider with tenuous Tennessee connections.

The debate begins at 7 Saturday night in Nashville.

This has been one entertaining race. The two candidates are on each other constantly, the lead has swung from hard rat to leaning slightly for the (R).

I hope Corker knocks it out of the park tonight.

Thanks I already saw this on FReeRepublic. Ford is going with the Biden plan to separate the country into 3 parts. The part that bothers me about this is Who the Hell Do These People Think They Are that can manage a war?

"Were there fireworks?"

none yet, so far they are both stiff cardboard cutouts. Let 'em warm up a bit, or hit a hot button.

Corker got in a good smack on Ford about not understanding the economics pricing of supply and demand on oil.

Ford reminds me of a cut out slick willy. Complains of a do nothing administration and fails to mention he was them... Corker just call him on the illegal employee. Said he did not.

Oh, divide that country over there into three parts. For a moment I thought that Biden had a plan I hadn't heard about to divide the U.S. into three parts.

Corker, to me, needs to share more facts and less generalized, flowery commentary.

Ford's obsequiousness is nauseating.

But you got to admit, Dana Carvey could do a great job impersonating this guy.

So far, I'm not seeing enough 'there' there, even for Dana Carvey.

I am very disappointed with Corker and his inability to bring up facts to challenge Ford. Perhaps it is a lack of much political experience.

Ford is talking about keeping a balanced budget. He would raise taxes to try (and fail) to get there to cover his spending proposals.

"Harold Ford, a black candidate running in a tied race for the Senate in Tennessee, is pro-the Iraq war, pro-guns and a Christian who filmed one of his television commercials in a church. His Republican opponent hit back with an allegedly race-baiting advert highlighting Ford’s presence at a Playboy party at the SuperBowl. 'Harold, call me,' winks a sexy blonde."
