Is she expected to win? I haven't seen any numbers.
OKEY DOKEY
"Mrs. Irey, I am a soldier currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and I am appalled at the remarks that Mr. Murtha has made regarding all aspects of the war and military in general. I used to serve with the USMC as a corpsman and was always told Semper Fidelis (always faithful) and "once a marine, always a marine", I guess to Mr. Murtha these slogans only have meaning during nonelection years. Good Luck in the election. We are all rooting for you in the election. May you restore the pride and leadership that Mr. Murtha has eroded in his congressional district."
(Name Withheld), Greensburg, PA
Now, ALL YOU WHO HAVE READ THIS, AND CAN AFFORD IT, PLEASE SUPPORT THEIR WISHES BY DONATING TO DIANA IREY NOW!
Please ping this.
Someone ping this to the lists. Also, those in the 12th, send it to your like minded friends and family.
BTTT
Murtha has voted against protecting traditoinal marriage. He's voted against securing our borders. He's voted for coddling terrorists and illegal immigrants. His plan to fight terror is to redeploy our troops to an island off the coast of Japan.
Polls, schmolls. This race has been totally overlooked by the MSM for reasons that are all too obvious.
There haven't been any numbers released, which makes me think she is a very long shot.
Considering voter registration in the district favors Democrats 2-1, it would take a miracle. Irey has run about as good of a campaign as you can run, but she has long odds to overcome.
We are pulling for you down here in Texas, Diana!!!
It'll be a close race, no question. Diana Irey is fighting a 30-year incumbent. But the lack of polls doesn't mean anything. If Murtha were trouncing Irey, don't you think we'd hear about it? The MSM is ignoring this race because it doesn't fit their theme of "everyone is against the war and the Repubs are toast".
So, how come Kerry only beat Bush by less than 3% in that district?
Optimism has run amok in this race. She won't win because, like you said, there are more Democrats than Republicans in this district. I know what I'm talking about because I live in Massachusetts where the entire state has a pro-Democratic Party ratio of 3 to 1 over all other political parties. She should of ran in a "Republican friendly" district, and maybe she will do just that sometime in the future.
Do you live in the district? The district only went for Kerry in 04 by 51%. What does that tell you? These aren't liberal, gay marriage, cut-and-run Democrats. Your analysis is way too superficial. Put your money on Irey.
Is that you, John Murtha?
How come Massachusetts has a Republican governor?
I allready put my money on Diana Irey!!!!
Gitmo, good to see you!
A lot can happen in a months with the momentum she has. I would say she has a very good chance for a win.
Diana Irey....You Don't Know Jack....BootMurtha....Vets4Irey
.
I hope you are right. No I don't live there, but I have been there on occassion. I have seen the military 'plus up' pork that Murtha stuffs into the budget of worthless projects that are legislated for Johnstown. I have nothing but admiration for the campaign that Irey has run. Murtha is probably the most corrupt pork-stuffers in Congress, but that makes him popular in his district. Irey has a lot to overcome, but if someone can do it, she can.
I have an idea for all the good Freepers in PA-12 District....If you known any GOPPERs that may need a lift to the polls because of the Weather set aside some time to help them to the Polls.
You should have voted in a "Republican friendly" state, when are you moving?
BIG BUMP!!!!!
As soon as I can afford to do so.
The Scaife rag in Greensburg, PA endorsed Cong. John Murtha again in PA 12. Without an endorsement from the most prominent Republican newspaper in her district, Mrs. Irey's campaign appears to be ready for the glue factory, just like Missy in PA 4.
In Massachusetts, the Republicans kept winning the Governor's races because most of the voters liked their personalities better than those of the Democratic candidates for Governor. Politics had nothing to do with why some voters voted for Republican Governors in Massachusetts. For others, they wanted a "check and balance" system with a Democratic state legislature and a Republican Governor for "political balance". The present Republican candidate for Ma. Governor is considered too weak of a candidate to seriously win this time around.
Amen, brother! And she has Freepers on the ground to help!
Your "long shot" prediction is FALSE also..... IMHO.
You see, Mrs. Irey doesn't want to move. She wants to represent the people that she's lived with for years, the place where her children have grown up.
With Diana Irey, it's not about personal gain or a power trip, she wants to represent the people for honest reasons.
If our supporting her is "optimism run amok" so be it, we're not forcing anyone to join in but we would ask you to join in and help her win.
Who gives a rat's behind about newspaper endorsements?
The political situation with that district makes it very difficult for any Republican candidate to actually win. Iray may even make it a close race, but I realistically don't see her winning this race. I really want to be wrong about this.
Irey, sorry.
Top of the morning to you MM, nice seeing you again and thanks for your token liberal post.
You know how conservative rallies differ from lib rallies...people tend to cheerlead on the positive comments, versus boo & hiss and yell nasty stuff about the other side. But there were several times when murtha's name came up and people booed very loudly and yelled out "TRAITOR!". I was honestly surprised at the level of anger his name invoked.
I was standing & chatting with people around me, and twice I talked to people who, like me, have family "out Pittsburgh way", in murtha's soon-to-be ex-district. Lots of people in this area have familial connections to district 12. There is a high awareness of what is going on and a high level of outrage at murtha's treasonous comments. I'm sure this reflects sentiment from his district. Families do talk.
Well, look what the cat drug in- a big old rat. Now all we need is your comrade-in-arms, Contempto.
Is that you, Deval Patrick?
Excellent article by Diana Irey linked at post #41, a must read for all.
VICTORY for Diana *ping* !!!
