Cornyn on Kerry
Lone Star Times.com ^ | October 31, 2006 | David Benzion

Posted on 10/31/2006 8:44:41 PM PST by Unmarked Package

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, made the following statement regarding Senator John Kerry’s recent remarks disparaging members of the U.S. military.

“The members of the United States armed forces are the best trained, best equipped and best educated fighting force in the world, and it is shameful that a senior Democrat Senator would make them the butt of an apparent joke at a political rally. Sadly, this is not the first time Senator Kerry has disparaged the men and women in our military. Less than two years ago, he accused our troops of ‘terrorizing’ Iraqi children – remarks not dissimilar to his Vietnam-era testimony before the Senate in 1971. No one is lying about or distorting Senator’s Kerry’s remarks as he would have us believe. Senator Kerry’s remarks yesterday were clear and they were shameful. He owes the brave men and women in our military a very sincere apology.”

"Screw the apology, it would just be an insincere lie. Throw the fool under the bus. I say he needs to RESIGN!"

Agreed. Not only did Lurch denigrate our military, he also proved that he is simply incapable of leading when the chips are down (or his foot is stuck in his mouth).

The only honorable thing left for Kerry to do now is to resign. Obviously, he won't.

Folks, the election is over. JF'nK did it again.

And, furthermore, Democrat candidate for CA State Gov. ought to apologize as well, for not stepping in and showing his disdain for Kerry's disparaging slanderous insult towards our brave men and women serving in United States Armed Forces.

Instead the little weasel was all smiles in agreement with Kerry.

Kerry? Disparage our military?

No-o-o-o. He would never do anything like that.

He's the former Texas Attorney General and now one of Texas' U.S. Senators. He'd make a great Justice on the Supreme Court.

I'm still waiting to find out how you join the Navy for a 6 yr tour in 1966, and get out in 1972, and don't get a discharge until 1978 when Carter gave the draft dodgers honorable discharges. PLEASE, will somebody ask the guy to sign the 180!!! I'm willing to bet a months wages he got less than honorable in 1972.

He's running for prez again and I don't want to wait 2 years to finally drag it out.

"I say he needs to RESIGN!"

Yes! He has demoralized our fighting men in time of war and cannot be trusted to vote on crucial wartime measures in Congress. He must resign immediately. And if he does not do the honorable thing and resign immediately, then he must be formally censured by the Senate immediately. We must let our fighting men know we are behind them 100%. Surely, even a democrat would agree with that, unless they're just another America-bashing, military-hating turn-coat like kerry. He must resign immediately!

They might have to wait awhile. He still hasn't apologized for the clearly shameful remarks he made about Vietnam vets.

I really admire Cornyn. This is from his remarks:

"No one is lying about or distorting Senator’s Kerry’s remarks as he would have us believe. Senator Kerry’s remarks yesterday were clear and they were shameful. He owes the brave men and women in our military a very sincere apology.”

"I would love to visit one day, and perhaps more."

In the vernacular of the residents of my beloved state, "Y'all Come!"

Thank you very kindly for the gracious invitation  :-)

I sincerely hope to one day.

The only thing I wish we had here in Texas that's never going to be is a nice rocky piece of (sea) shoreline !

Well, one possibility might be:

Kalaloch Lodge - Olympic National Park, lodging on the ocean

(actually, the ocean beach right next to the lodge is rather sandy....it gets a bit more rocky further to the south but this is a nice base from which to explore, and the air is very refreshing)

or at most any of the Bed and Breakfast houses in San Juan County...the San Juan Islands have almost exclusively rocky beaches although they aren't on the ocean, per se.. The ocean beaches down in Oregon are even more dramatic in terms of rock formations but they also have quite a bit more tourist traffic in the high seasons.

This way you can retain your sanity, be proud of the State in which you live, yet enjoy some nice ocean beaches as well   :-)
