Kerry cancels Mankato appearance

The dueling rallies scheduled for Mankato today on behalf of Republican congressman Gil Gutknecht and Democratic challenger Tim Walz lost some of their pizzaz Tuesday night when Sen. John Kerry pulled out of the Democratic rally.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the front-runner for the 2008 Republican nomination for president, is the star attraction at a rally at the Midwest Wireless Civic Center for Gutknecht and Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee pulled out of the DFL event, which will still be held, as the result of a controversy over comments he made Monday inCalifornia.

Walz communication director Meredith Salsbery said Kerry canceled his visit to keep the focus on the issues and away from Kerry’s comments and McCain’s response.

She wouldn’t comment on whether Walz asked Kerry not to campaign for him, but said the decision was ultimately the senator’s choice.

Both of today’s rallies are free and open to the public and are expected to last about an hour. McCain will be in the East Banquet Hall at the Civic Center. The event begins at 10:10 a.m., but people need to arrive by 9:50 a.m. The doors open at 9:15 a.m. No backpacks or other bags are allowed.

Doors open at MSU’s Taylor Center at 11 a.m. for the Walz event with music by Martin Zellar beginning at 11:15 a.m. The rally begins at noon. Parking around campus is expected to be very limited, but shuttle buses will run starting at 10:30 a.m. from the Madison East Center.

It's encouraging, I really would like to see the most loyal part of his base from '04 stick with him in '08! Maybe "Rabid Poodle Kerry" will be much more entertaining to watch than the version we saw a couple of years ago.

Can you imagine him woofing and snarling at their new darling, Osama Obama? It would be great political theater!

" You have learned much Grasshopper " that's because Grand Grasshopper ( ROVE ) is wise in his ways... and for that, he has earned the ROVE decoder ring... but use it wisely.

It would have been great fun to see McCain and Kerry go at it after seeing McCain's comments on H& C tonight,....they might have gotten physical....McCain brought up Kerry's performance after the Vietnam war.

Former Navy Officer Kerry has done more damage to this nation than the Walker spy ring and that's saying something folks.

Before, I thought of Rove as a political genius . . .
Now, I think he's some kind of Magician.

(How did he make him do that?)

Hey everybody, I was stupid and I was sent to Vietnam.

I was on a not-so-swift battlegearboat (LCM-6).

I was attacked and attacked back and I spent the month of November, 1969 in the 93rd Evac hospital in Long Binh where I witnessed, daily, heroic Americans die and heroic American doctors, nurses and medics fight with everything they had to save lives and provide comfort, compassion and love for their wounded comrades.

It was, and always will be the experience of my lifetime, the suffering and pain, eased by these exceptionally professional people, these extraordinary human beings who so willingly made sacrifices, remained diligent, alert and worked impossible hours while at the same time constantly encouraged us patients to pull through.

The things I saw in that place of honor, to be a participant/patient part of my country's history, much as my great grandfather in The Civil War, crammed into that crowded, cross-shaped ward and commiserate with the wounded and dying...it was all so overwhelming, yet I survived!

Aside from that, most of my time in Vietnam was spent trading movies and bartering with merchant vessels as they swung at anchor, awaiting transit upriver to Saigon.

This sorry bucket of piss John Kerry deserves nothing but ridicule and scorn. History will not judge him kindly.
