John Kerry Gives Demos Botched Campaign
Bayou Buzz ^ | 11-1-06 | Jeff Crouere

The Democratic Party is the political equivalent of the Keystone Cops, or the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. In football terms, the GOP has presented them with the ball on the one yard line and instead of pushing it in, they run the wrong way.

The Democrats are an amazingly incompetent group of politicians, always presenting to the American people the most liberal and extreme members who do not represent mainstream American values. The latest gaffe involves idiotic U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) who supposedly misspoke at a rally in California and instead of criticizing the President of the United States, criticized the brave men and women of the military. He told a student rally in California that they would get “stuck in Iraq” if they didn’t study hard. A political firestorm soon erupted and Kerry later claimed that it was a “botched” joke about Bush. Regardless, it was heard by U.S. troops as an insult and Kerry should have done the respectful thing and immediately apologized. Instead, he went on the attack and claimed he learned the lessons of 2004 by responding to criticism vigorously.

Sadly for Kerry, he is as clueless as ever. He played the 2004 campaign the wrong way and he played this incident the wrong way as well. Unfortunately for Democrats, the Kerry episode is a distraction and will serve to stop Democratic momentum and help energize the GOP base voters. Republicans can now take the high road of supporting U.S. troops and lauding them while blasting their opponents, whose 2004 presidential nominee made an insulting and ill-considered remark, whether it was botched or not.

In 2004, Kerry lost the presidential race because he was the wrong candidate at the wrong time. The right Democrat could have beaten Bush in 2000 and 2004; however, Democrats continue to nominate liberal losers like Al Gore and John Kerry, both relics of a bygone era and representing the most radical face of the Democratic Party. By inserting himself into the news now, Kerry is just reminding Americans about the last campaign, one in which the Democrats lost as Republicans painted them as weak on battling terror, pro tax increases and out of step with mainstream American values. Kerry is the perfect representation of the elite northeastern Senator who is more liberal than the average American. He is also pure and simple a political fool and he showed it once again yesterday. He could have handled the situation with class, but instead he handled it like a stark raving maniac.

Democrats need to lock up John Kerry for the next week. Today he is canceling political appearances around the country and going back to Washington D.C. He is the last person who should be campaigning for Democratic candidates. For one, he is a loser, who is also pretty reckless in his comments and has very little political skill. He reminds Americans once more that the Democratic Party is left of the country and shows why the Democratic Party cannot take advantage of so many GOP opportunities, because they are ill-equipped. The Democrats are represented by relics, people like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry and Howard Dean. The Democrats desperately need new leaders who will energize the American people and represent their values more accurately. The Republicans have made mistakes, but to capitalize, the Democrats need to have the right leadership. John Kerry is not the right type of leadership and if the Democrats don’t realize their mistake, their gains in this mid-term election will be muted and their chances of finally re-taking the White House in 2008 will be slim to none.

This gaffe certainly helps, but I don't believe the Dems were going to take the House or Senate, anyway. At least this gives them a scapegoat for November 8th. In 2000, it was the Supreme Court. In 2004, it was Christian voters and "rigged" voting machines. They have excuses-a-plenty.

It seems like everyone has now forgotten that Mark Foley ever existed.

It also seems like Markos Moulitsas Zuniga is having zero impact on this election - despite the grand claims of only a few months ago.

Ditto for MoveOn.org and their Nazi enabler George Soros.

This exchange about Kerry got me banned from Gasbuddy.com's message boards; a guy upset at the upcoming POW lawsuit against Kerry explained it this way:

"The fact is, he is a reluctant and regretful hero and it must just burn Bush & Cheney supporters to no end since those two all but peed their pants to avoid serving their country. They were two pigs in the fat mud of deferrments and family favors while honest, regular Joes were spilling their blood or at least giving their time for what America asked of them.

Bush and Cheney could've only been greater insults if they had shimmied their pork-laden yellow bellies over the Canadian border. I have more respect for those who burned their draft cards in defiance than a couple of cowards who hid in the corners hoping trouble would overlook them."

My response was:

"All of which, of course, has nothing to do with Kerry's current legal troubles. But you boys have what may be a real big problem coming in the next year and a half. A little refresher:

1988 - It comes out that Dan Quayle was in the Indiana National Guard and the democrats try to take down the Bush/Quayle ticket, squealing about how Quayle ducked his service. Too late, Michael Dukakis said to his own people, "Hey, guys?!?!? I managed to get a deferment myself to get out Korea so let's not be too hard on little Dan." Lloyd Bentsen even ended up making a half-assed apology to Quayle but it was too late and the Dukakis/Bentsen came out looking pretty bad.

1992 - Bill Clinton who actually did use a lot of pull and "all but peed his pants to avoid serving his country" ran against war hero George Bush and all of sudden the lack of service wasn't really important. At the time, Kerry even said so much although in the back of his skinny head, he must have thought that he just might be able to pull off the war hero shtick in the future.

1996 - Clinton again against war hero Bob Dole and this time the subject was almost completely off the table except for those Clinton supporters who mocked Dole's severe war injury.

2000 - Bush - Gore; after research by both parties, it was decided that both candidates served their country honorably although unremarkably so the subject was pretty much closed.

2004 - Kerry springs his war hero campaign into action and manages to knock off the other democrat candidate. Mistake 1 for Kerry is that he thinks we forget that he is also a self-admitted war criminal who, as it turns out, isn't all that popular with his "band of brothers" after all. And the 2nd bigger mistake was using falsified documents ("fake but accurate" as SeeBS so memorably referred to them) to go after President Bush's service which, of course, had been thoroughly checked out by the Gore campaign 4 years earlier. Had Kerry avoided those two mistakes, he'd be sitting in the White House right now, for better or more likely worse.

Your problem is that you may well need to spin again for the 4th time if war hero John McCain is nominated and runs against Clinton, Obama, Edwards or one of the other democrat "cowards who hid in the corners hoping trouble would overlook them.""

And that got me tossed without even referring to him as Ketchup Boy. One of the tnings that is disallowed by their rules is: "The initiation of any Wal-Mart based threads, and or Pro/Anti-smoking topics. They are not allowed." I think Kerry, Obama, Clinton, and Chavez may be sacred cows there as well.

John Kerry:

"If you don’t finish your homework you will go to Iraq and rape, cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turn up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of Iraq.”

This could be interesting in the short-term AND long, politically.

The polls are still insisting the Dems will take seats. If they can't spin themselves out of their self-dug hole if the GOP wins, they *might* turn on Kerry for blowing it. If Kerry is drummed out of a possible 2008 bid, it narrows the field down for Hillary.

Ack, I need to retire my tinfoil hat between Voting Day and New Years!

And after the 8th, will Kerry get an invitation from Pelosi and Reed to join them at a post-mortem - in Fort Marcy Park?

Yeah, sorta like they did his wife after her nominating speech.

What really irritates me about all this is his lame attempt to deflect his responsibility for the statement by saying it was directed at Bush's policy in Iraq. Does he really think we're as stupid as he is?

Republicans don't need to "paint" Democrats as this; that is exactly what Democrats are.
