NYT: Mark Foley's congressional seat now 'a tossup' between Tim Mahoney, the Democrat, and state Rep. Joe Negron, the last-minute Republican replacement... Developing...
TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: florida; foley; negron
To: blogblogginaway
Negron was very good in the debate on CSPAN this morning. Or was that last night? At any rate, Mahoney is an outsourcer and this will be a GOP hold.
Punch Foley for Negron!

I think this is going to be an easy GOP hold. People are smart enough to know who they are voting for.

The only way Mahoney can win is if Republicans stay home.

The fact that it's even a tossup is stunningly good news.

Very likely an R hold then, I'm feeling much better now.
But I'm not letting the GOP House leaders off the hook. It's a mere matter of timing that's made the difference.

John Kerry: The Gift That Keeps On Giving
To: blogblogginaway
If we can keep this one, get one of the GA seats (I think we might get both), and take any other current Dem held seat, I don't see how the Dems take the house.
Everything I've seen has the Dems between +16 and +20 without losing and seats and picking up FL-16. If they don't pick up FL-16 and drop a couple of their own, they won't make it.

Just think...the people of that Florida district get to vote for a REPUBLICAN, not a democrat queer who changed parties to get elected!
My bet is the Republican wins!

This, along with the story on FR the other day about Sekula-Gibbs getting her message out in TX-22, makes me more confident that the Pubbies will hold on to control of the House.

If we can keep this one, get one of the GA seats (I think we might get both), and take any other current Dem held seat, I don't see how the Dems take the house. It's looking like IN-07 (Julia Carson's seat) is looking like a possible pickup, at least that's what I read around here.
Everything I've seen has the Dems between +16 and +20 without losing and seats and picking up FL-16. If they don't pick up FL-16 and drop a couple of their own, they won't make it.
Now I like reading The Corner on NRO, but their "boxscore" today had the Dems up something like +27 net gain, which I think is ridiculous. I really can't even see them getting to +20 unless there's an unforseen blowout.
It's ALL turnout on Tuesday. If the Republicans don't get out the vote, then the Dems will get their majorities. If the Republicans are more successful in GOTV ops, then Carville will put the garbage can over his head again and there will be plenty of crow served to political pundits on the 8th.

Somehow, I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of "tossin'-up" come November 8 as Dems across the nation swallow a huge helping of crow.

Most of these polls are not measuring the GOTV which is amazing on the Republican side. The rats have nothing like this and that is going to be the amazing story of the 2006 election after everything is said and done.
To: LegalEagle61
Joe needs volunteers to contact absentee voters
772-463-5407 or work the polls . the district run from Fl coast to coast ( Martin to Pt Charlotte) and its very Repub ! Some of the counties may not allow the notices in the polling areas.

So in other words, every seat that's remotely close goes to them. A +36 net gain (which is actually +37 because of Vermont coming from the independents) = Dem 239, Rep 196. Not in their wildest dreams is that happening.

Speaking of changing fortunes, the Dimwits will no doubt be charging voting fraud if the Donks don't win the House. Several stories of voting computer problems being circulated now (along with the "tightening" of the races).
