MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A group of soldiers in the Minnesota National Guard is behind a comically misspelled sign mocking comments by Senator John Kerry about people who didn't study in school being "stuck in Iraq."
It shows eight soldiers holding a white sign spelling out, "Halp us Jon Carry - We R stuck hear n Irak." All but three of the words are misspelled
The photo has appeared in numerous newspapers, T-V newscasts and Web sites.
It includes the "Red Bull" mascot of the Minnesota National Guard's 34th Infantry Division, which has troops from five states.
The photo caught the eye of the White House. Spokesman Tony Snow told W-D-A-Y Radio of Fargo the photo is "wonderful and shows a great sense of humor."
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty says he proud of the soldiers. He says it proves that troops overseas are paying attention to what's being said back home.

Give these guys a Unit Citation.
Medals and an extra few weeks of R&R for all of them...
Good for those fine soldiers from MN...Best Regards from a RVN Vet..=s=
Good point. Our terrorist helping MSM is in full view over there.
Good going, guys !
Do they know they may have a Muslim Congressman after next week?
Sure hope these wonderful Soldiers don't get court-martialed. Believe me, there are those in the `system' who would will it so.
But imagine the firestorm if it does happen!
Anyway, that sign was the perfect squelch! sKerry's staffers must be screaming for an investigation even as we speak!
Hear hear! I second that! RVN 2/66 - 7/68
Democrats will claim they were forced to pose. Direct orders from the White House.....
Wooo hooo!! Go Minnisota National Guard - proud of ya'll!!
NordP
The picture has not been printed in many papers that is the problem. Not even the Red Star in Mn. Has printed this.
There are many reasons to vote against the Democrats next Tuesday, but the overriding one is to not let these guys down by turning command of their government over to a party that has contempt for them and will sell them down the river the first chance they get.
From what I've been able to determine, there appears to be two females in the photo. Their ranks appear to be a 1Lt., an E-8, two E-4s and two Majors. Works for me!!!! I love our military. Hanoi Boi Kerry sucks!!!!
34th ID is my dad's old unit!
Sicily, Anzio, and points north . . .
If the Dems were in power these guys would be audited for the rest of their lives.
I wish I could give them all a big hug....and tell them how much I love and appreciate them!!

Nice touch!
Meeeeee tooooo!
AND...we caught that terrorist tryin' to learn how tah fly a plane without landin' it, too, didn't we??? That was just weird, and 'course we gottah TELL the authorities that it's just STRANGE a guy actin' like that, yah knOw?
I think you just did. ; )
Unit Citation?
Some politically correct moron general will probably be court martialing them and when the Democrats take over the Senate they will block every promotion for the officers of the Minnesota Guard.
This story WAS carried in the MN Star.
Picture Soldiers Father Writes to Powerline! MOST PERFECT!
UPDATE: Reader David Ward writes:
Thank you for your great work and especially the coverage of the picture of the soldiers mocking "Jon Carry."
My daughter is on the far right in the picture. We spoke to her last night and again this morning. They are quite astounded at the coverage. They were furious at Kerry's remarks and wanted to do something. I guess they did.
Yours truly,
David Ward
To me, this picture was a stroke of genius by these folks. Without speaking a word, they managed to make Kerry look like the cowardly, mega-fool that he is. These are my kind of soldiers. America's best. They don't come any better.
Thank you for the two links. Very interesting reading. Thanks again!
But of course that's not really true, isn't it? These people are, according to Kerry, just supposed to be dumb, stupid high school dropouts, burnouts, etc. Only that several of them are either college graduates or have at least several college credits under their belt(s). Kerry was attempting to pander to the young college "hip" leftie crowd with his statement and he failed miserably. .... and lucky for all of us, was caught on tape trying to do so. Free speech does indeed sometimes mean its easier to spot the liars and frauds.
I'm doing a search for the link I posted at Post 29. If I don't find it elsewhere on FR, I'm going to create a new special post for it all its own. This guy Charlie Sykes, a radio personality with WTMJ out of Milwaukee, has been all over this story re: the wonderful troops who got angry at Kerry and did something about it. Little did they know that their photo would indeed say a thousand words... and then some. It's certainly spawned a lot more than that in the subsequent media coverage. Gotta love it!
Maestro,...I say "Right On"!
And all this time I've been under the impression that Minnesotans were a bunch of dour, humorless, no-fun types of people!
My stereotype of you folks has flipped 180 degrees.
It was a creative, appropriate and funny-as-hell prank!
I salute you!
I was on the road when I heard about this picture on Rush or Hannity. I couldn't wait to get home. I found the picture, downloaded it and emailed it to everyone I know. Like somebody said, it should be awarded a Pulitizer. Unfortunatly, the people who give out that "award" won't find it funny. They are probably "outraged" by it.
They wouldn't do it openly.
If any of those Soldiers in that picture were to face punitive action, word would get out through the blogosphere, and then a sympathetic member of Congress or the New Media would bring fire to bear. Names would be named.
The light of truth would be shined.
F'n eh.
I know the brass said these soldiers can't speak to the media about The Sign,
but heck,
they oughta send them home for a pro-war victory lap the way the military did in WW II, to stir up the efforts at home to support the war.
