[Ted] Kennedy Offered to Help Soviets Thwart U.S. Policies, KGB Papers Show

(CNSNews.com) - While Soviet troops occupied Afghanistan in 1980, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) worked in close concert with high level Kremlin officials to alter the direction of U.S. policy, according to documents made available through a KGB defector.

Details concerning Kennedy's correspondence with KGB agents are included in the writings of the late Vasiliy Mitrokhin who defected to Britain in 1992. The Mitrokhin papers highlight a meeting that took place at the behest of Kennedy between former Sen. John Tunney (D-Calif.) and KGB agents in Moscow on March 5, 1980.

I've talked to some liberals about this and have been a little surprised at their reactions. They aren't angry that he was trying to screw the country but they are mad that he was trying to screw Carter.

Beyond that they seem to think it's a non issue. (There is an election coming up after all.)

But, in Kennedy's estimation, the Carter administration had assumed an overly belligerent posture toward the Soviet Union after the invasion of Afghanistan, Mitrokhin wrote.

In Kennedy's view, "the atmosphere of tension and hostility towards the whole Soviet people was being fuelled by Carter" as well as by some key advisors, the Pentagon and the U.S. military industrial complex, the Mitrokhin report states.

Since there was intense disagreement between Kennedy and the administration on policy toward the Soviets, Tunney told the KGB that the Massachusetts senator had concluded "it was his duty to take action himself, which could force the Carter administration to act to de-escalate the crisis," Mitrokhin wrote.

If these documents are true Kennedy should immediately step down and also face treason charges.

That stinking SOB traitor.

Look again. Now we have TWO named Democratic traitors who collaborated with the KGB:

Ted 'I Let Her Drown' Kennedy

John Tunney

I wonder just how many more names will surface.

Any bets that John F'n sKerry's name will be there as yet another traitor that worked behind the scenes, without USA government knowledge, with the infamous KGB??

The bankrupt fourth estate can do as they please...

I hope the DOJ takes notice and initiates an investigation into treason...

It will forever evade me how Kennedy ever got elected, much less has remained forever in the U.S. Senate. I simply do not understand!

Huh?! The freakin' Carter administration?!?!

Sounds like Fat Teddy's mind was clouded with some substances beyond just alcohol in the '70s.

Yep!

U.S. liberals have pretty much been a movement of treason and sedition since the Vietnam Era.

The MSM won't report this, but Rush, Hannity, and others just might once they get more information. Once it becomes news on their programs, and Fox, the MSM will be forced to, at the very least, report it. Then the MSM will do what they always do; lie about it.

Sure. Didn't you know that cancelling the Olymipics against a regime hell bent on world domination equates to "belligerent posture" to the libs?

There is no doubt in my opinion that (25 years later) key members of the democrat party are in contact with al Queda, plotting ways to cooperate in the destruction of the USA.

We could start with a proven traitor, Ted Kennedy. Add George Soros, John Kerry, John Conyors, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, and Jim Moran and/or members of their staff.

Hang then all!

There is NO way, had I remained in MA, that I would ever have voted for the likes of barney frank, ted kennedy, or john kerry, or anyone else of their ilk! I want you to please pray for all of us in PA who are working like crazy to get the vote out for Senator Santorum. Please, please do pray for us. I worked all day knocking on doors and was very well received. I know what the polls say, but I am so stubborn and determined as to believe that until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, Nov. 7th, this race is NOT over.

"If these documents are true Kennedy should immediately step down and also face treason charges."

You might as well hope that he finally be charged for the murder of Mary Jo Kopechne.

To paraphrase John Kerry, conspiring with America's enemies to unseat Republicans "is the classic Democrat playbook." (Gee, didn't Kerry himself meet with the Vietnamese in Paris back in the early '70s?)

BTW, this is an old story about Kennedy. It didn't get much traction when it was first revealed around 1990, and it will remain most likely confined to the fringes of the Internet forever.
