You are either jesting, or you are without a clue as to who we are fighting.

The enemy we are engaged with have been after us from their founding.
Mohammad has been after the "NON-believer" since day one.
You seem to be of the opinion that if we could just all get along
everything will be...hunky dorrie. Well it won't.

Please, please get your head out of the sand.
Nobody wants war, we want peace but they won't let us have it,

so we go to war, and let them play on their home field.

As much as it would be wonderful to hold the ticker tape parade for all the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly as the holidays approach once again, it shouldn't be anytime soon.

The worst thing we can do is set a date--that only gives the enemy a tacit nod of approval and lets them start planning the real upheaval. Just think of the money and arms they could save between now and the "due date" if we gave them one!

Dividing Iraq into three "states" is a problem. We leave and the Shitte section is annexed by Iran, which is then in place to wipe out the centrally-located "Sunni-land." The Kurds in the north could become their own state, but as an independent diplomatic state they would be entitled to their own militia and possibly nuclear weapons as defensive weaponry against their hostile neighbots. Turkey would be part of the EU and their border with the Kurds is not a positive environment.

The new leaders (Iranian?) of Iraq would then sit on the second greatest oil reserve in the world. Wonder if we could get our solar panels and windmills up and running full-throttle by then?

I checked his/her posting history. Seemed legit and posted mainly about religious issues. Misguided as hell about bringing the troops home, though.

The The islamic-fascists and terrorists don\\\'t want the war to end. and terrorists don\\\'t want the war to end.

I have never been able to agree fully with President Bush using the term islamic-fascists to describe the enemy.

It seems to me that Islam itself is the problem, not some subset thereof.

Be sure of this.

If a threat remains in a region, the troops will remain.

The numbers may drop significantly, but the presence remains.

See Japan, Korea, Germany, Singapore, Eritrea, Egypt, Bosnia, Spain, and others that cannot be mentioned.

We will have a presence in the Middle East for many, many years.

The thing is, there will always be evil, repressive forces in the world. The good guys (that's us) will always have to fight for our freedoms, our way of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The only real question is, do we want to fight "over there" on our terms, or right here at home on someone else's? Make no mistake, there will be a fight.

Did our troops return after the flag-raising on Iwo Jima, even though the island hadn't been purged of Japanese soldiers for weeks to come?

Did our troops come home after taking the beaches of Normandy?

Did our troops come home after Washington captured some Hessian mercenaries after crossing the Delaware?

Read your history, join the Army...

But will it ever be over?--and why not just stay on our own ground and fight from itsa boarders? Less deaths of all those Young troops and less crushed the families.

I do not want fighting on the streets of our cities which is exactly what will happen if Iraq is left to the terrorists.

My guess would be that it was drunk or stoned.

Who's families??? You want to protect the terrorist's families and have them come here and kill your's?? That's insane.

I don't want suicide bombers blowing up buses, I don't want our police blown up while they are trying to protect you and I don't want our firefighters dying while trying to put out the flames that you think should be in our streets.
