G.O.P. Glum as It Struggles to Hold Congress
New York Times ^ | November 5, 2006 | ADAM NAGOURNEY and ROBIN TONER

Posted on 11/04/2006 11:00:33 AM PST by publius1

WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 — The battle for Congress rolled into a climactic final weekend with Republican Party leaders saying the best outcome they could foresee was losing 12 seats in the House, but they were increasingly steeling themselves to the loss of at least 15 and therefore control of the House for the first time in 12 years.

I think our {GOP} operatives are employing political judo here. Why argue with the NYT when, if they do so, they'll be ignored. Why not do a rope-adope and claim you're really glum? That'll get into print IN A HURRY.

Don't you find it odd that virtually NONE of the GOP guys is willing to refute the NYT dire projections?

It's feeling more and more like Rove and the boys have outfoxed the dims again.

The NYT forgot the part where Newt said, "...barring some dramatic shift in momentum."

I am not glum by any stretch.
Whatever happens. And I expect good news.

I will oppose dems with the same vigor no matter what happens. Until they are gone.

My reading of the historic moonphase voting chart predicts a gain of 5 to 8 seats by the Dems.
(Hey, why not a moonphase poll? They're always home!) )

Here's a chart of moon phase and how the outparty does in House seats.

1992 waxing +9
1994 waxing +54
1996 waxing +8
1998 waxing +5
2000 waning +2
2002 waning -8
2004 waning -3
2006 waning

Every DBM story I read... seems to sound like that loudspeaker in 'Pork Chop Hill':

“C'mon Joe... ray down you lifle... there's hot food waiting for you just outside your pelimeter. No need for you to vote... stay home... where it quiet.”

Propaganda is only effective to the degree that those to whom it is directed are receptive to its message. Don't believe the BS emanating from the media loudspeakers. Let them think they're winning - and then go out and kick their asses.

They won't ever quote anyone, and the people they are talking to are GOP malcontents who want the "ins" to lose so that they can get power---most likely the blue-haired country club types.

It is the NY Times that will be VERY glum on Wed. I'm feeling a big, big victory over these clowns.

Call me crazy,

OK, crazy. Ever play Bridge, Hearts, or Spades? You tell the NYT that yes, your party turnout and support just plain sucks. They in turn trumpet the landslide victory that the Dems anticipate. Queers, drunks, and druggies dominate the Dim spin. This further demoralizes the Dim constituency. But the Dims have a "plan". They will hire limo's, buy '40's and smokes, and threaten to out their own queers, drunks, and druggies. They gave up on the Adultery thing after Clintons problem (impeachment).

This is not over until it is over.

Glum? NYC is projecting. We Republicans are excited, expectant, looking frward to a strong Republican clean-up victory, and celebrating the blogs and freedom fighters who have come forth to fight the good fight.

The DUmbasses in the lame-stream, has-been, drive-by dinosaur media have to cover Saddam's sentencing tomorrow.

If he's sentenced to DEATH, any further trials are moot and we are again reminded of why our troops are in Iraq - depose Saddam (or REGIME CHANGE as it was referred to when Clinton adopted it as policy, but did nothing more than lip service). DUmocrats wanted the election to be about Iraq, and so it is.

1. Jean-Fraud Kerry infers that soldiers in Iraq are dumb.

2. Soldiers respond

3. NYT admits Saddam had nuke program.

4. Families of fallen visit Iraq (no quagmire)

5. Saddam sentenced (death by wood chipper)

News cycle seems to be working for GOP advantage thus far. DUmocrats today counter with "Rusmsfeld must resign" and "recruiters caugh lying" stories. Wow. That's new....NOT!

In addition to Saddam sentencing, Fox will be running OBSESSION - THE MOVIE, and we get to see the face of the enemy today and tomorrow. Fox is also showing "waterboarding" (Steve Harrigan, a Fox reporter volunteered to show how it is done) all day today.

I don't know what Monday brings, but I've got a good idea about the day after.

This is the New York Times. Of course they're going to say the Democrats are set to take over the House Tuesday. Did you really expect them to give Republicans a break? In the final 48 hours, the Drive Bys will ratchet up their vote suppression drive.
